Good luck to the lad, but I'm happy with the money thanks. Overpriced player.

Well we all knew it was coming.

He is an amazing left back, and I am gutted that yet again our academy produces a player and we have only gotten a season out of him.

I personally don't give a **** about how much money we get for him, all I care about is the team. If we reinvest in quality replacements then I won't be annoyed, but if we go for cheap options it will be a bitter pill to swallow.

Just because you buy a cheap player doesn't mean he is ****.

If it's £34 million I believe that is very good business. He's a very good player and will be world class one day, but £34 million for an 18 year old left back is more than satisfying, and I trust Koeman to reinvest well. Bright future, not a bright lad and probably won't cheer him when he comes back, but don't resent him either.

The French lad is supposed to be quite good, isn't he? I won't try to spell his name. Tim.

34 million will ease the grieving process pretty quickly for our loss

    Nice.

I don't know if you've noticed but we have (and have had) a lot of other highly-rated youngsters coming through whom we once had grand delusions if building a team around.

Losing Shaw is not the end of the world, but it might be the beginning of the end of that plan if every academy product who is half decent leaves at the first opportunity.

We will probably continue to lose youngsters, but we'll keep bringing them through as well. Their quality, combined with the quality of players we can sign when we sell for megabucks, will be what pushes the team on. We just need to keep making sure we get crazy money when we do sell, and invest it well. We'll start hanging onto these players if we make it into Europe.

wow two years of ageing in one season? no wonder he wants to leave.

edit: by the start of the season, i see ;) <laugh><doh>

60 league appearances in one season... that explains the premature ageing.

You are correct. We just have to hope that we can continue to identify targets that will at least equal the players we lose.

The main drawback is that (as spurs proved last season), one in the hand is worth two in the bush.

I thought Shaw's drawback was that one in the hand wasn't as good as one in two twin bushes?
