Cant find the gaming thread, but Pulp mentioned hanging off buying anything til the Summer Sale @ Steam kicks in, thought I'd let everyone know that it has. Just picked up two Batman games for sick squid, following getting Skyrim for about a fiver. Every day the deals are unbelievable. Batman Arkham Asylum/City/Origins are 75% off for another 45 mins.

Yep. I've spent the last few hours playing Arkham city and it's well worth the £3.70-something I paid for the GOTY edition.

    more deals available here

I had recently started a new game of Skyrim but decided to give Oblivion a go. Yeah the graphics aren't as good as Skyrim but the storyline is fantastic.

Oblivion is a very well written tale, novel in its own right really. But Skyrim is markedly better to look at and play.

Apart from the goddam combat. Very frustrating to just click & hope, maybe I'm missing something? There's no real tutorial for it. It's worst that Bethesda created the excellent Fallout "VATS" system, which mimicked the likes of Star Wars: KOTOR and Mass Effect's systems. Yes, they're Sci-Fi, but all they had to do, particularly in Skyrim, is claim after you've established you're "Dragonborn" that you inherit some kind of special power that does the same thing - allows you to slow time to a stop to target the enemy.

I bought Dark Souls for a few quid. But have realised I'll need to purchase a controller to make it work, as using the PC controls is just impossible.

Decided against that - supposed to be impossibly hard, with or without a controller. I think that's kind of the point of the game. Apparently. It's a bit like claiming Lost In Translation is a good movie.

If you want something long term then see if Eve Online is available in the sale. Eve is more than just a game, it's really a hobby in itself as far as I am concerned.
