Seems a bit harsh to me. We bang on and on about wanting players with a hunger for the game. As soon as someone shows it they get banned.

Remember when Defoe did it to Mascherano, hardly anything got said about it.

I'd say it seems a bit harsh but I don't like the feral element of it all. Plus it clearly isn't harsh enough if it doesn't take in our game. Colo is still having nightmares. It means he'll be chomping at the..........................

While I agree that FIFA are spineless i think 2 years is a bit excessive.

Banning him isn't going to help him though, the bloke needs his mental health evaluated and dealt with by professionals

I agree with this. I've gone from thinking he is simply an asshole to thinking he is an asshole with serious mental health issues which, for his sake as much as anyone else's, should be addressed.

Should have been longer. I love Colo but I wish to Christ he had crippled the ugly mutant beaver **** when he had the chance and done the world a ****ing favour.

Doubt he'll be back for our game. He's not allowed to train with a professional club by all accounts so don't see how he can be match fit for our game.

If he is back for our game I can imagine just how much stick is coming his way. It's my belief he'll now use this to get a transfer out of Liverpool and increase his wages. There is no justice in this world.

As the UFA are appealing against this would FIFA consider increasing the ban, I also think that notwithstanding all the talk of him needing help he has had more than enough opportunity to sort his head out as this is the 3rd time he has done this.

Defoe is English though and it was just a bit of banter <whistle>

If Uruguay appeal I can't see FIFA increasing his domestic ban. Would but hugely unfair on Liverpool given they would have no involvement on it (not just saying that as I'm a Liverpool fan obviously).

He's got something wrong with him and needs mental help. Does seem stupid that FIFA have put nothing into this to say you need to go see someone and get professional help, instead just punishing him by banning and expecting that to cure him, cos it obviously worked the previous 2 times....

Because it's not as if he hasn't the money or had the opportunity to do this of his own volition!!!

Absolutely. But footballers aren't intelligent enough to realise that for themselves <laugh>

He needs to be made aware by FIFA that next time it happens it is Sine Die. No exceptions, no excuses and no mitigating circumstances. If he does it again he's finished worldwide. Whoever he is with when this is over with needs to build that possibility into his contract so that he doesn't benefit financially from the minute it happens again. He is a brilliant footballer, but sadly the language most people are using is 'when' and not 'if' he does it again.

I agree SAP. I've not met a Liverpool fan yet who tried to defend what he did, the only question was whether his ban would include domestic games too. To punish him (which is what it is about not punishing Liverpool or Uruguay) they needed to include domestic in my view.

There is nothing else to compare this with and the sanction had to be worse than last time. I actually think 4 months is about right but that banning from all stadiums and training grounds is a bit harsh, if that is enforced it would probably not see him match fit until a month or so later than some of the return dates mentioned.

The thing that is missing though is a follow up comment about if he does it again (as SAP talks about), they need to put him in no doubt that the sanction for ever biting a footballer again will be 1+ years or something similarly major.

Mentally ill people generally have difficulty recognising their mental illness.

Giving Suarez the ban that they have should help his employers, inc his country, to fast track psychological help, and in the next four months give him nothing else to focus on.
He needs it spelt out in the clearest of terms...

Why doesn't he go to the dentist and get some wisdom teeth put in.

    That should solve the problem.
