If Rio wants to sign for us and Harry wants him and our board are happy to sanction it,then I have every faith in our fabulous board to run the club to the best way they can. The crap i read on the forums Oh I dont want this pensioner and I dont want no ex chelsea players when Mike fillery and many others have done so makes things be put in perspective In Tony and Amit I trust 100% If we sign 6 35 year olds this summer then its because they are considered assets to the club In Harry and the board I trust
Well, I'm working on the theory that Rio wants to come to our club and play a part........... He is prepared to put in the hard yards and win it for the fans and the club. He will pass on his knowledge to the younger brigade which in turn helps the club. He will get along with the other senior players for the betterment of the club. He may get injured but at least he will show that he will 'put in' when available and let the fans know he's up for it. He will prove to be a expansive but good signing and lets face it, if we buy a player for 10 grand a week and he doesn't put in, isn't he a expensive waste, so even if Rio costs 65K a week and plays consistently and favorably, surely he is then deemed as a valued investment. If Rio comes to the club, I will give him 100% of my support and expect him to do likewise for the team and club ................ Welcome ole mate!
Spot on if Rio Ferdinand signs then he will be welcomed by me like anybody else we have signed. Harry goes for top pro's and Rio has achieved a lot in the game.
Rio has always been known as a big positive player in the dressing room, not for just Man Utd but also England. Nothing like Boswanker and Park who had absolutely no positive pressence in the dressing room With Rio's experience on the field, I think he will be a great signing for us. Remember how so many wanted Hill out and didn't want Dunne because he was too old, well without both of them we wouldn't be back in the Premiership. As a club we are moving up...
Being over 50, I believe I have earned the right to remain grumpy for the rest of my life (and revel in my grumpiness). That includes being sceptical of anything and everyone. People make mistakes and sometimes learn from them, and sometimes they dont. As I have said before, the proof that we have learnt from our previous mistakes, is the decision made over the summer, and those crucial first 10 games.
Only because of our record with ageing injury-prone players, do I remain sceptical of any ageing injury-prone players linked with our club. Some will succeed, but the mother nature always wins, and injury-prone players remain injury-prone, and age accelerates that process.
If (& it's a big IF) Ferdinand decides that LR is a good place to play out his final couple of seasons it wouldn't be such a bad thing if his signing is counter balanced by say those of Ince & Bryson. Ferdinand may not be the most mobile of players now but with Simpson, Ned & YSY playing beside him that may not be such an issue....plus what a chance for Ehmer & Donaldson to really learn their trade from Dunne, Ferdinand & Hill.....
