This is our worst ever World Cup performance.

This was his second tournament and Hodgson has had over two years to mould a team, that included four games at Euro 12 and 10 qualifiers.

He’s failed and there are no signs to even suggest things will improve.

We’ll qualify just and half arsed from that dogshit qualifying group and in two years it’ll be exactly the same again. With RH banging on about ‘the positives’ after yet another dissatisfying, lack lustre exit.

Blimey we were **** in 74 and 78.....and yet we dominated the UEFA and European Cups at the time.

He's failed, like Capello, BB McLaren before him.

Our 'best' players like Rooney, Gerrard and Lamps have failed under 3 managers now.

If a manager can't get the best from his players (like the players you mention) then they should drop those players or face the consequences.

Also, wasn’t the successful Euro success stories of the 70s from teams with great managers and made up of British players rather than just English players anyway, with Scotland (who did qualify) being decent in that decade for instance?

We need to ditch the fusty, well travelled, rigid managers, Capello, Eriksson, McClaren, Hodgson.

We have players easily talented enough to get out of that group we just got 1pt from. What we lack is fire in the belly, desire, passion and hunger.

Gary Neville should be told to forge a team, a squad of players who want to excel, achieve and are robust and arrogant enough to take on the world and say bollocks. Neville was a good right back but he won what he won and got 85 England caps because of commitment, an unnerving belief in his ability and a stronger will to win than whoever was lining up against him.

Give Sterling, Shaw, Barkley, Lallana that and watch them go.

Easy to drop them....but replace them with who?

BITD, all the top English teams had Jocks and Irish too, but they all played the game in the 'English' style when all clubs competing basically had their own national larkers plus the odd Johnny Foreigner. Milan and Juve were basically Italian, Ajax were Dutch etc

Maybe you're too young to remember Poland at Wembley 73?

I'm not sure these young players are as good as people think they are. Average international players at best I think they'll turn out to be

Yes, I am too young to remember 1973. But I do remember 1994 and 2008.

But the fact we've been **** before means little in this context apart from that we've been mis-managed before.

We should not look to endorse such a poor showing in any kind of way.

What do you see in RH's performance to want to keep him?

With regard to the Euro 70s success, surely, players like Daglish, Souness, Gemmil would argue they played a British style rather than English? And the impact they made/ value they gave was greater or as great any Englishman.

My point about Poland 73 was Sir Alf had won the WC, we had great larkers but we were done by bad luck and unestimated opposition.

Back when no country had proper coaching of kids, we dominated. Once the Europeans started to apply methodical coaching and training of kids, they slowly but surely got better than us.

The Jocks you mentioned fitted right in to our league football: the mentality, grit and attitude.

I would keep RH till someone better comes along. It took them forever to get Capello and Roy, surely the next one will take even longer?

Call me kinda crazy but Kevin Phillips could have done a job as sub in Brazil. Guaranteed to nick a late one, and not fluff it.

It’s an indictment that we don’t have a few (if any) genuine candidates.

Still, I only see the plateau or worse under Hodgson, therefore, he should leave.

I wonder what Prandelli would be like as the England Manager

"I take positives - this was a banana skin. To get that display was great since for many it was new," he said.

    Just seen that quote.

Considering they were top with 6 points and we were out of the competition with 0 points, what a ****ing stupid, out of touch and disrespectful metaphor.
