It turns out that what the World Cup needed wasn't goal line technology, but FIFA to stop believing they're doing the lesser federations a favour by giving referees who aren't up to standard roles at the tournament. It has to be said that the real innovation that should be taken forward isn't the goal line technology, but the can of foam to mark where the wall should be for free kicks...however, after seeing the Greeks inch their toes over the line at least twice against Japan, it hasn't taken long for players to start finding ways to take advantage of it. Same can be said for the amount of corners taken at the tournament where the ball is outside the corner circle.
The spray paint is fantastic. Yes please EPL. Would love a dude (could the lino do it too? Might need an extra one each side) to do the same for throw-ins
<quote> I haven't slept much and I keep asking myself hundreds and hundreds of questions of why it's gone wrong so soon. Steven Gerrard </quote> How many hundreds of ways can you phrase a question to which the answer is : Because you are all over-rated and sh*te.
No corroborated citation (as of yet) , but if true we know where HIAG is this summer ... Costa Rica manager, Jorge Luis on England: "We look forward to testing our fringe players against the weakest side in the group."
“In Costa Rica everyone loves football, young, old, all races,” Pinto said. “Maybe we don’t have the same connotations as Brazilian, German and English football the hooligans and everything, but we live for football.”
I'm not sure which is funnier: the previews in today's Radio Times that didn't take into account the possibility that England would be eliminated before the Costa Rica game, or the weekend fixtures that presume England scraped through the group. And, seriously, I'm surprised that Gillette haven't deleted this photo from their social media sites... please log in to view this image
"I'm not sure which is funnier: the previews in today's Radio Times that didn't take into account the possibility that England would be eliminated before the Costa Rica game, or the weekend fixtures that presume England scraped through the group." Only two programme details max that they had to correct. Wimbledon coverage will fill those in quite easily.
Bloody Wimbledon Beeb 2 has it on non- stop from 11 am to 8 pm. And what comes after that marathon? Why, an hour of "today at Wimbledon"
Uruguay will require that one Suarez moment (if it comes at all) . Italy have all the possession quite comfortably. Uruguay are trying to wind up Balotelli (he got a yellow and misses their next game) .
My parents have been to Uruguay and say it's a nice country and the people are very pleasant. Which begs the question: how the hell did they concoct such a nasty piece of work like Luis Suarez? He was at his dirty, cynical, diving best in the first half.
watching Costa Rica v England I know what the problems are.... We have no idea how to play football. Young or old we can't pass, can't dribble, can't cross, can't take corners, can't take free kicks, can't shoot properly, don't move into space, don't read the game. We have great haircuts and tattoos and big cars and houses though... With all those problems it is no wonder we play so badly. I don't think it matters whose in charge we are cr**.
It's been like watching an FA cup 3rd round match where Costa Rica are somebody like WBA and England are Eastbourne Borough FC (with apologies to my home town team). Plucky but overall inept with Costa Rica struggling to find any rhythm.
No, just a garden variety moment of madness. Some refs wouldn't have gone for a straight red, but it was studs over ball into calf, so I guess it's the right call. You could say Uruguay have been winding Italy up, but Italy have been winding up Uruguay just as much in their efforts to fart around time wasting. The first two world cup winners are living up to their cynical reputations so far.
England are utterly clueless...For a group that plays "In the Greatest League in the World". TM They are just pathetic. It has to be the coaching at this point. A bit like Sherwood's Spurs running around with no real idea of what they are meant to be doing. Still they all got to play a game. Isn't that nice of Woy.
Shady of Roy not to bring on Lambert, he deserved to at least play his part. Although Roy found a place for his dads army midfield paring and then Chris Smalling.
