Strootman, will he be any good after his injury (as in back to his best)?

Seems there are no concerns. Unlike Gundogan whos career might be over soon.

Strootman and herrera would be one hell of a force though. Might be worth buying him now as hes due back september/october. Just in time for the champions le....... thanks dave......

£30 million seems pricey for him, I've never been that impressed when I've seen him!!

Its cheap when you see Southampton want 25M for average players like Lallana and he replace the useless Fellani.

It's not cheap when Fabregas costs the same and Herrera hasn't proven that he is anywhere near as good!

I think Fab cost us a little over £30m actually but yeah, for the difference in price, the difference in quality of the two players is gargantuan.

That's a bold statement to be fair!!

How do you know? Barcelona couldn't wait to get shot of Fabregas and Arsenal didn't want him back, nor has he played for Spain this world cup. United didn't pursue him either.

He's also been mostly peripheral for Barcelona and has failed to get in ahead of the ageing Xavi.

That does not, to me, state player at the top of his game.

    We'll see.

They pretty much begged him to stay, so not quite sure where you got that information from....

"The midfielder, rejected this time around by Arsenal, who had first option to buy him back, said: "I asked Barcelona to find a way for me to leave the club.

"The president tried to stop the sale, but I already had my mind made up."

Fabregas added: "At the time, I spoke with [sporting director] Andoni Zubizarreta and the president [Josep Maria Bartomeu] and I told them I wanted to leave.

"Honestly, it all went really smoothly. I'm not leaving for any specific reason, if not for a multitude of different things, my own errors and that's it."

Spanish clubs are a little different in that if a player wants to leave, they get shot. Rather than holding them to their contract (whether thats a good thing or not I am not sure).

Fabregas was playing over 30 games a season for Barca and grabbing double figure assist stats and 10 goals too.
Lord knows why Arsene didnt want him, but then he hasnt really proved to be the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to transfers.
The amount of players he has missed out on due to arrogance, or being miserly (Mata, Drogba and Hazard all spring to mind).

Oh come on, it was widely reported they touted him for sale. Open to offers, Luis Enrique didn't want him.

I'm not going to trawl for some quote or other as I know you lot are highly skilled at doing this, as you "proved" countless times that Mourinho turned down the chance to join us as we no doubt begged him to come.

30 games is nothing for a club like Barca. Sod all.

But anyway, on the point of there being a gargantuan gap in class. Do you by any chance watch all Bilbao's games? Because then you could then say this.

Him not getting in the Spain squad ahead of Busquets or Xabi Alonso isn't to his detriment.

He has played at this world cup! I don't see Herrera in the world cup squad never mind getting near the aging Xavi, Herrera wasn't even in the reserve list but his midfield team mate Ander Iturraspe was. IMO Herrera isn't even the best midfielder at Bilbao.

    As a sub.

The point is he is NOT first choice. He couldn't even get in last night's dead rubber side.

And, to be frank, that's ****ing obvious.

I think you will find that in Spain, herrera is more highly rated than fabregas.

Hes also, as every report for the past 12 months suggests, one of spains highest rated players. Hes also credited with Bilbao qualifying for the champions league and was a target for Barcelona ( according to spanish press ).

Many players are not in the spain squad because I am sure you have noticed...... they havent changed it in 6 years. Its essentially the same squad as 2008 bar 1 or 2 retiring players.

Midfield is also their best stacked area. Again, this is blatantly obvious.

he is however, very highly rated. The reason a massive list of clubs were not interested...... Basque club mand release clauses. Not easy to sign one of their players at all. Ask Bayern <ok>

Do you understand the meaning of the word gargantuan?

You seem a bit thick, I'm not sure you know what you're arguing against.

Im not saying hes better btw, just that hes highly rated by just about everyone in spanish football. The best Spanish midfielder who doesnt play for Barcelona.
