But you said you'd bet without looking. You were still wrong, and your memory can't be what it used to be either... :D

I was wrong about that but right about him being crap, tell me, did you have to look it up?
Somehow I doubt you remembered either.

You were so desperate to prove me wrong over something I couldn't be added to look up that you proved he's been utterly **** for the last 50% of his career.

    Something I've said all along.

But I never claimed to know his career record - you did. And you were wrong, however you couldn't be bothered to spend 2 minutes looking it up just in case it spoiled your argument and made you look a tool - which it did.

    Something I've said all along...

No, I'd have just said he's been **** for the last 7 years if I could have been bothered to look it up and id have been right too.

    but you said:

And you were wrong. His scoring record PROVES that for five consecutive seasons he broke double figures - hardly 'rarely', is it? His injuries haven't helped him, and he's not the player he was, but then you used to be a cheerful soul, and you've gone downhill a bit as well. Does that make you '****'? Your words, not mine.

Just admit you took a guess on his not breaking double figures, were proved wrong, and leave it at that? It'd be the proper thing to do....

A series of good comebacks there by WLW. Quit while you are behind Flyer mate.

I'm just letting him make a fool of himself, he's proven my argument that AJ is **** by trying to prove me wrong over something I quite clearly didn't care about.

I think we can draw our own conclusions from the exchange. You said he had one good season and that isn't the case.
My Palace mates think he is a legend.

If you didn't care about it, why post? Clearly you DO care about it, Flyer me old mate - enough to 'bet without looking it up'. Shows you thought you knew something that proved to be false. Never mind, it happens to us all. Well not me,. clearly, but most of you.

When's your birthday? I think I need to send you a shovel, because the way you keep digging holes for yourself you must have worn yours out by now...

He was a very good striker. He had five years at the top, scoring pretty freely. He was called up for England, fell out of favour, and forced himself back into the frame. You don't do that unless you're a good player. Injuries and age took their toll, but to write him off as a 'one-season wonder' was foolish.

I said in a throwaway comment that I literally couldn't be arsed to spend 30 seconds looking up. I don't care I couldn't remember what happened over 7 years ago when I said it would be an awful signing and it was.

I just find it funny how desperately a cyber stalker wanted to prove me wrong.
I could probably my go back to loads of signings and dig up posts of him saying how great they are but I'm not that sad.

    AJ is ****, end of.

Jesus, not that i want to join in with this but since signing for Fulham for 10.5M in 2008 he has scored 15 league goals in 6 years, he has only managed 77 appearance in the same period of time, i guess his strike rate isn't that bad - i can think of worse but his average of under 13 league appearances a season over the last 6 years no matter what the reason makes him most definitely **** now.

And in Flyer's defense he did only have one good season in the top flight of English football, when he scored 21 league goal in the Palace side that got relegated 04/05.

After that he was poor at Everton, poor at Fulham and was already finished when he arrived at QPR.

Despite all this he is still better than SWP.

Flyers original comment of how are we going to replace his two goals a season was funny but AJ was a good player once. He just hasn't been for us. I think we are all agreed on that.

It makes him injury prone (which we all know). You could say by comparison that I'm a **** bungee-jumper, as I haven't done much of that for the past seven years either, since I injured my back....

You're the first person to mention 'top flight'. Flyer certainly didn't. Had he been correct in what he said, there would have been no urge to correct his error.

Sorry for causing a barney! I still think that he was a good player, but severely hampered by injury.
