Good Morning Everyone, Could Gradel be on his way to little Bournemouth? If newspaper reports are be be believed, well, yes!!! Surely, if Gradel were to return to the Championship, there'd only be one club that he would want to go to!!! Lee Peltier has been speaking of his relief at leaving Elland Road :- Peltier said: “I just think I need to move on now. “When I went to Forest on loan last season, I didn’t realise how much I wasn’t enjoying my football until I joined them. “I really enjoyed myself there and after that, I felt it was time for a fresh change, obviously with everything that was going on and things like that (at Leeds). “We both mutually agreed the decision and that was the outcome.” On a fraught 2014, Peltier, whose last game for the club was in the 5-1 home loss to Bolton Wanderers on March 8, added: “It’s part and parcel of football. “It was just one of those things, but what happened has unsettled a lot of people and obviously unsettled the fans and players with what went on. It was hard times. The lads were unsettled and it created a lot of uncertainty when the lads needed a bit of stability in terms of where the club was going. “But I think the fans deserve that more than anyone as they are the main people at the club. If Leeds get that stability and get going again, they have the potential to be a massive club and hopefully Cellino will do that. “But the amount of times people have heard that with Leeds owners.. GFH were supposed to be doing that.” A 10k fun run is being held in Colwyn Bay on Sunday, July 13, as a tribute to Leeds legend Gary Speed. The fundraising race is being staged by Colwyn Bay FC, where Speed’s father Roger is a patron. Organisers are hoping fans from far and wide will turn out to show how much ‘Speedo’ continues to mean to them. They are also calling on supporters taking part in the run to wear their club colours on the day. Ipswich and Charlton are monitoring the situation of Cameron Stewart, with interest with both Championship clubs keen to snap him up.
Morning all. Pelletier talked a hell of a lot of sense there. It'll be interesting to see if any of our duds from last season raise their games, now they have nothing unsettling going on. Hopefully so. Maybe well be lucky with Stewart too and Cellino manages to get rid. Thankful for the World Cup as it has shortened the close season. By time it's over, pre season will be kicking into gear
Morning Eire, really hope we squeeze out of the Stewart deal, though its not going to do much for our rep. Will other clubs trust us?
Morning All Bye Bye Peltier you won't be missed. The only thing about this that I don't like is the fact we've got no money out of it. Wasn't he at Bolton at the end of last season not Forest?
Morning all: Just shows us that the backers of Haigh and GFH were so badly wrong for believing the garbage we were being fed!! How does a team be in the top 6 and then win nothing for the last 4-months. Obviously things were very badly wrong there. Will the players believe Cellino has the answer with Dave, that seems to be the big question now. If we getoff to a good start and having stability behind the scenes as well as knowing Cellino has the cash, then I believe we will have a much better season. If however the players don't believe Dave is the answer we are in for more of the same I do also believe that Cellino is looking for a new facility away from TA, and yet again that could prove to be brilliant too.
Morning all. Have to disagree with you Wolves. Whilst not our best player, Peltier did a fair job at RB, and certainly made a fair effort of filling in as a CB. Me thinks he might come good at 'udders. Have a look at Bruce to see how some of our so called rejects can perform when away from ER. On Stewart, I thought he was a work in progress and could have benefitted from a decent loan spell and game time. If we do manage to get out of the contract with him, it'll be interesting to see how he progresses. I also hope that Cellino has a tricky winger lined up. He doesn't necessarily have to be speedy (Gray wasn't that quick and he did okay). But unlike that chap from Southend, he has got to be able to put in decent crosses.
Elland, just checked his Wiki page and you're right it's Forest he was at. To be honest Boggers I'd happily see the back of all of Warnock's signing. If we've got rid of Peltier it must mean we have a right back/Center Back lined up as a replacement
Morning all from a very hot Bristol Looking forward to getting home later. Glad the wages Pelts was being paid are now freed up, after all he wasnt getting game time and looked shakey as RB. I wouldnt have minded keeping him on as a CB with an option to cover RB but hopefully we will bring someone better in to partner Pearce and probably on less money as well.
Good morrow Matt an co from a very sunny Bardsey I am very surprised they have not sold him for money especially with the so called interest shown could we get Hunt now from Palace much better prospect for me Love to see Stewart go too along with Norris Morison Kenny White Poleon and bring some good young ones in!
Morning all, If we'd got Peltier on a free he wouldn't have looked too bad, but considering he was a big money signing (by our standards) he was a disastrous piece of business, especially given the fact he wasn't even needed, as Byram kept him out of the side. Glad to see the back of him, not good enough.
Maybe Cellino is exceptionally persuasive when explaining to players they no longer have a future at Leeds. Maybe something like "You're not a gonna be playing for the Leeds again and if you dont go quietly, you're not a gonna be playing for anyone else either. So makea your mind up" or something like that
Centre backs at Leeds: Under 21 players x 2 in hoof it long Lees and a great prospect in Wootton, plus the very good Marius Z. All three players went off the boil 2nd half of last season due to problems behind the scenes, I expect a lot better now and for me Lees is the worst of them. Don't we have a kid coming back from being out on loan too. When we get the likes of Mowatt, Dawson and Byram back fully firing as well as a couple of the kids, we have problems with a big squad who needs thinning out. Maybe Cellino is happy to spend money getting rid of these players? Stewart, Norris, Morison, Kenny, White, Poleon and Hunt means 7 players and wages to get rid of. and keeping them reduces our options in the transfer market and promoting kids. Dave needs to decide quickly about this big squad!!!
Morning all Glad Peltier has gone, we paid far too much for him and it'll be a good chunk of wages off the budget. It would have been nice to get some money for him, but I'm seeing it as a positive point because Cellino has managed to get rid of someone who wasn't end of contract. Just needs to repeat that with a couple of other makeweights now
Italian paper Gazzetta are reporting that Cagliari will play Leeds in a friendly at Elland Road on August 2 http://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Serie...by-giulini-cellino-2-agosto-80997678860.shtml
On Elland's original post, really can't see Gradel going to Bournemouth. A nice little team who put us back in our place last season. But they're hardly PL material for the long term are they? If he does come back to the UK and doesn't end up in a decent PL team this season, I can see him coming back to us. Hope so anyway.
I disagree. Great owner, great manager and a nice place to live. Eay access to France for Maxi as well. Bournemouth could well be worth a punt on promotion this year!
I personally don't see how we've got a massive squad. It might need trimming and certainly needs some better players, but is it really that big? Whenever i look at the back of a matchday programme, the opposition usually tend to have a longer list of names than we do.
