Indoor cricket centre, as it was then, for the Columbia game.

Beckham and Anderton scored a pair of blinders.

Plenty of grog lead to some raucous behaviour.

Unfortunately some soppy sod decided to wear an Argentina shirt and gobbed off, for some ridiculous reason, about how they'd knock England out.

It didn't end well, for him anyway.

Regardless of Finals, the best England football moment I've ever experienced was Becks free kick against Greece.

For me, it was England 4-2 Croatia at Euro 2004.

I was there, which is probably why I hold it in such high regard.

It was also one of those rare times when England had a good performance.

I don't properly remember much before 2002, so that's why I didn't say 5-1 Germany or Becks' free kick.

We could've & should've done miles better with the team we had in those Euros. I blame Sven for ****ing it up.

Once we got to penalties against Portugal you knew the inevitable was going to happen.

Then bloody Greece went on to win it ffs!

David Platt's last minute winner against Belgium Italy '90.

Watched it a boozer in Wales with 30 odd other English squaddies.

To say it went off would be an understatement.

    Always on duty.

Italia 90 for me - it was the first World Cup I was allowed to drink in the pubs, New Order made the best World Cup song ever and Gazza was amazing - Belgium match was amazing Cameroon match was amazing and for the wrong reasons so was the semi-final. I drank with my mates I cheered with my mates. I laughed with my mates and at the semi I cried with my mates

I also remember a guy beating someone up because England lost and that fracas cost him 2 years at her majesty's prison - sort of sums up the good and bad of hull and football in 1990 for me...

I attended the Germany fixture at the Stadio Delle Alpi and count it among the bullet points of my footballing CV.

Got top table tix from a SA tout, saw Henry Kissinger outside ground, saw nonce Ken Bailey on one of his last outings.

We only had 7,000 there that night cos of Moynihan's punitive anti fan propaganda.

Moynihan - when you see the replays of interviews and statements he made around that time - what a absolute cock he was

Think he actually told the Italians not to give us more than 7,000 tickets.

Fritz must have had at least 30,000 there.

weird. my view of that game, at the time and ever since, was that beckham played badly, hogged the ball and played in a way that prevented the rest of the team playing to their potential. his insistence on me-me-me-me and everything going through him meant that instead of england rolling the greeks over that day, they badly stuttered. the two greek goals were the first two that greece had ever scored against england from open play. england would have been better off without beckham that day. his goal in injury time was badly needed penitence for his screwing up of the whole game but it wasn't redemption. if england had lost that day, it would have been beckham's fault. you watch the game again. normally beckham played up the right wing. that game, he didn't. he just had to be everywhere, like some prima donna. he got in everybody's way, and whenever someone needed to pass the ball to the right winger, he was absent, somewhere else. he completely screwed up the game plan, he threw away the team's normal tactics. you might worship that goal, but i loathed his entire performance.

Was it Francais 98 where Ronaldo swallowed his tongue after getting battered before the final?

    Or was that 2002?

Fat **** got so hungry he tried to eat himself <laugh>

My favourite was also Italia 90 where i am sure i watched most of it in Beech Tree, which probably means in reality i watched it somewhere else...

Best moments were Platts goal so late on against Belgium and beating Cameroon. I can still picture Linekers gesture to the bench when Gazza got booked to replace him or whatever it was he was trying to convey.

I recall after the games we won, all the cars driving round, honking horns, people hanging out of the car windows celebrating. Of course when people try that nowadays i have to show my complete disgust at their recklessness !!!!

I was at this game with the England travel club in Lens and to this day it is the best atmosphere I've been in - the England end was literally bouncing for the whole 2nd half - great game it was

has to be world cup 98 as best world cup I've seen but as a previous poster said Euro 96 was where it was at.

the original 3 lions, shearer and Sheringham working brilliantly, Gazza doing the dentist chair during the victory against Scotland (remember Uri geller was in a helicopter above Wembley and moved the ball off the penalty spot as Gary McAllister stepped up) the 4-1 against Holland which was amazing, Stuart Pearce getting retribution for his pen miss in 90 against Spain then doing it again vs Germany only for Southgate to miss! We would have beat Czech Republic and won it if we hadn't lost to Germany.

This years world cup has had some great and exciting matches but unfortunately England haven't been involved or even shown a glimpse of the attitude and desire the squad has had in other tournaments
