Flyer will testify I'm a big fan of this lad. At a mere £7m it's a snip.

Hopefully it's Toulouse that ends up with Riise, but knowing our luck he'll be playing in hoops next season :(

Too much, wages will be massive too.

We still need players in other areas first. CB, CM, AM CF. That's just for the starting 11.
I'd rather spend the money there and get a free or loan to compete with Simpson.

This will never happen, Aurier's going to head to a big club. We wouldn't be looking to replace Simpson either, who's been excellent

An improved spine to the team is exactly what we need to concentrate on.

Exactly, we can get away with a winger or FB whos quite good enough, look what happened to Korea with their no 5 who cost them the game. Add in the goalie and they are the most important positions to play.

I agree with peoples comments about the spine of the team but surely if he is available and willing to come to QPR. It would be crazy to miss that opportunity....

We have to unless we are going to spend £20m on 3 new forwards, £15m on a couple of defenders and another £15m on a couple of CMs.

We have a budget. This will mean we take £7m away from an area that desperately needs to be strengthened.

Would you rather have Dunne and aurier playing or caulker and Simpson?

I agree with you but it all depends on who is going to be willing to sign for us. I would be very happy to take Caulker but I would imagine if he gets an offer from more establish premiership team he'll chose them over us. I'm guessing we are going to bring in a lot of players as half our team seem to be out of contract or loans

    Onuoha and Aurier sounds better!

But Onuoha, caulker and simpson along with Yun sounds the best. That's a good starting back four.

Cardiff are apparently offering caulker around for £8m. So they'd accept £7m and I'd choose him every time over a player that could fail spectacularly and French Africans aren't exactly the most level headed and reliable of players.

That was exactly the club's attitude to Cesar.
A player like Aurier is going to be starting, he's a great prospect. Which means he'd be a direct replacement for Simpson. Why on earth would we ever do that? What message does it send?

We should never sign players solely on the basis that they're available & good

Its fair enough if we have 20-22 good players already, we should never stop looking to improve but replacing Simpson is way way down on the list of things we need to do this summer.

Don't forget Simpson has that assault charge hanging over him, from the sound of the assault he could well do time if he's found guilty. Seeing as he knocked on the guys door and battered him and was arrested at the scene, it seems likely that he would be found guilty.

So we could well be after a replacement/cover in that department. But do we really listen to rumours anymore? How often is it actually accurate, not very often.

I disagree. Hypothetically Fernandes & the Mittals have the buying power to improve every single position in our squad, and replace the entire lot. Which isn't far from what was done over our 2 seasons in the PL...

Improving the squad shouldn't be done to the detriment of other stuff (team spirit, financial prudency, loyalty to good players etc.). We're not Man Utd, our aim (particularly at this stage) shouldn't be to improve absolutely wherever possible. We're a little London club; and the likes of Onouha, Simpson, Green, Barton, Hoillet, Phillips, Austin need to be given a go.
