Getting beat off Italy and Uruguay got us knocked out. Costa Rica have beaten both of them so we aren't good enough. Do we blame the conditions?
always thought Glenn Hoddle was a good manager for England (a win ratio of 60%)- plus being older and likely wiser not to make the same daft decisions he made on his previous engagement
Goner for me. not brave enough, too old to make real changes. I'd like to see a young manager who thinks outside of the box. Like Waddle said in that other thread someone posted, we always just pick whoevers english from ManU Liverpool Arsenal and Chelsea. That's all we've done for years. Alls I'm saying we should be looking for partnerships that proven to work in the league, such as Nolan and Carroll. I'm not saying those specific two should be playing for england but they should have been given a chance when they were young enough to do so. Instead we keep persisting with Rooney Gerrard whoever else is around. Fall I care build the team on Wilshere Wallcott and Ox. At least least they know each other. Put Shaw and Lallana down the flank. We've been playing like a bunch of strangers for years, and yes there's never been a balance. We were poor at this wc. Poor at the back, and everytime we went forward there's Rooney or whoever on the ball and there's 6 players behind him and no one free ahead. You're never going to win by having to run past everyone constantly. The system was totally flawed. Now look at germany. These guys know each other well. Their defensive spline plays together. They've usually got a middle triangle of Kroos Schweinsteiger Müller and Götze who know each other instinctively. Alright, given that they're world class players doesn't hurt but their system works because they know where the other guy is going to be 10 seconds from now. Our guys are completely clueless. All England did this world cup was play it to whoever into feet and hope he'll beat 5 players and hopefully somehow find one of the other 3 guys who are in the oppositions half.
