He has assembled a pretty decent team and given youngsters their chance. They are no means duds who lost closely to highly rated teams, it wasn't the "group of death" for nothing. Don't think he and the FA have this WC in mind but the Euros and WC2018 may be more like it.

He should never have been given the job as I said at the time ........ he's a ****ing embarrassment.

'Group of death' ...... ffs, we trot out that ****e every ****ing competition we play in <doh>

Gerrard should never have been in the squad never mind the team.

If WC2018 has Hodgson in charge we should ****ing forfeit if he's still alive by then.

I've never rated him to do the job. Yes man has failed massively. No surprises there and i won't be surprised if he gets kept on by the inept pricks up in the FA echolons

It's no surprise he's being defended by Greg Dyke, a man with the same speech impediment <doh>

I've no idea what the man knows about football or how he's qualified to do the job ............ I'm talking about Dyke by the way.

Not yet. We have some promising young players coming through, and Roy should be given a chance to mold them into a team for the Euro's, if he looks like he is failing to do this, then yes re-place him before then.

He can only pick from what's available. What's available isn't good enough, he is no miracle worker. Every team needs at least one world class player in it, we have none. The next manager will be in the same boat.

As has been said on a previous thread grass roots is where the problem lies, not the guy in charge of the first team.

We need a world class defender, a world class midfielder and a world class centre forward! Only then could we escaped this group with confidence! Bottom line is, there were not only two teams, but as it turned out, 3 teams who were better than us! I'm not disappointed that we didnt get through as such, im disappointed that we didnt take it to the last game!

Costa Rica have knocked us out of the world cup. The team is good enough to avoid that.

I'm sure Italy and/or Uruguay will be thinking the same!!! On paper i believe we are not as good as Italy and Uruguay. Costa Rica have more heart and determination. We were always gonna struggle! I believe it wont be long till one of the minnows win the world cup! I believe the lesser teams who have always had more bottle now have enough quality to see them go far in the competition!

Costa rica didn't knock us out we got ourselves knocked out by losing both games in which we didn't play that bad the difference being a world class striker and a bit of bad fortune against italy. Give roy the euros then make a judgement call im quite optimistic about the future we have some great young players coming through get rid of the old school gerrard Lampard etc and get the kids moulded into a great team b4 the next tournament

Yes, but Costa Rica have also deservedly beaten Italy and Uruguay, give them some credit, strangely both teams looked good against us and pants against Costa Rica, football is a funny old game for sure.

Costa Rica don't have any of these world class players you speak of. Uruguay have two very good forwards and **** all behind them. We've a decent team, with lot's of ability and it didn't show.

The blame falls on the players, who will either be put out to pasture if old or given some encouragement if young, and the manager who the FA love and will no doubt lead us to another disappointing tournament in two years time.

Yeah good for them but they are in no way a better group of players than ours. Their manager has got them playing well and advancing. I don't think I'm taking anything away from Costa Rica by stating that our team should be far too good to be knocked out by them. I'm stating the obvious.

Give him to the Euros for me. The team needs a rebuild and he has shown signs of being willing to do that.

The bottom line is that we are simply not that good - there is some talent coming through but they are a long way from being the finished article - this could take a good few years to get right.
