I thought he was on-side when the keeper kicked. I'm not going to watch it again though, to find out.
Lallana certainly. The one positive from last night is that the turn and pass Adam played to set Rooney running down the left side probably added another £5mill to his price tag.
I kind of hope they play out a draw, England are so poor we might as well get it over today. If it all comes down to Tuesday, they'll only balls it up anyway and we'll have all manner of shenanigans when the pubs kick out. This has to be one of the worst England set of results ever played out in a tournament, only the Bobby Robson 1988 at the Euro's team had a worse time I think. They'll equal that if they lose to Costa Rica. Can you believe that this was the line up for that squad's 1st game, a 1-0 defeat to Ireland. 1 Peter Shilton 2 Gary Stevens 3 Kenny Sansom 4 Neil Webb 19 Mark Wright 6 Tony Adams 7 Bryan Robson 12 Chris Waddle 9 Peter Beardsley 10 Gary Lineker 11 John Barnes This current lot don't even come close to most of that line up. I can't believe still to this day they lost every game at that Euro championships.
I agreed with you but after people continually 'big up' and defend players whenever I criticise I didn't reply. I did hint at Sterling being taken off if he 'fades' again though. Sterling did f all in the first game apart from a few turn, run, shoot and a few 'maradona 86' attempts and failed with all of them. At the risk of being heavily criticised I will repeat what I have said for ages. Sturridge is a selfish f'r as well. I said Liverpool were a one man team last season and people berated me for it. Johnson - Did well for the goal but shocking for the rest of the match especially defending. Shoots rather than passes too often. Gerrard - Has been past it for more than 2 years. Shocking at the euros and even worse so far. Henderson - Is he in Brazil? Sterling - doesn't pass. Wants to do a worldy every time Sturridge - doesn't pass. Most selfish player on the pitch Suarez - Plays for his team, passes when it is the best option, shoots when it is the best option. Add to the Sterling/Sturridge comment that Barkley, Wilshere and players like Andros Townsend are exactly the same. They are not interested in passing. They are only interested in their own glory and none of them pass. Barkley and Wilshere similar to Sterling just want to do Maradona 86 dribbles failing at the first man. Yet these players are hyped up to **** by the media (and fans) as being the future of English football on the back of short periods of form. Sick and tired of it. Then people get on Rooney's back. If I was Rooney playing in that side where no-one is passing when they should then I would be coming back to get the ball from defence as well. Next England manager (if Roy can't do it) needs to be much much stronger and tell these selfish self centred pricks that if they do not start playing for the team rather than themselves they will be out. There are lots of players (maybe with less ability) that can play the team game in England and a team with 11 of those will be much better than a team of glory seeking selfish prats whistling the ball wide or over from 25 yards every match or dribbling instead of passing all the time. And yes poster above on Lallana. Got his head up in a dangerous area, passed it to a teammate and started the attacking move off that led to our goal. If that was Sterling or Barkley in that position they would have tried to dribble out of danger. I was so f'ing annoyed last night. It really riles me as I am passionate about England and it really gets my goat when these kind of players are bigged up so much when all they do is attempt to make themselves heros without thinking about the bigger picture of England.
I was kinda wishing I hadn't. The atmosphere in there was pretty depressing. And listening to the people behind me trashing Rooney all game was irritating.
The one I was in, was pretty empty really compared to a lot of the others. We were sat at the back but had a decent enough view, I feel bad for not caring that much.
Sounds like Alvaro Pereira played through a concussion, which is stupid. Need to be more protocols in place for that.
Also thought Johnson was wrong to stand off Cavani and allow him to pick the cross under no pressure. He really is garbage Edit: just seen comment from Beefy saying same thing, oops
Referees should be given the power to order clubs to make a substitution or take a player off (if out of subs).
Effectively they are: there's a FIFA medical official at all games who has the power to overrule the team medics in matters such as these. FIFPro have accused FIFA of failing to adhere to the guidelines.
I can't believe Roy didn't make any changes earlier on. If it was me , I would have taken Wellbeck, and Sterling off, for Rickie and Lallana, on 60 mins. No doubt he will play the same bloody team, against Costa Rica!
I feel sorry for all the pubs. There's going to be so few people watching the final match, and their income will take such a huge hit compared to what it would have been even had Italy won today. I think that's pretty much a certainty
Would be ridiculous to play the same team again. Nothing to be gained, might as well give the others the experience. Nothing would surprise me at this stage though.
In the understanding that the team that failed get a chance to vindicate themselves. When actually, what he should do is give all the least experienced 90 minutes.
I am so angry. Even though Italy lost to Costa Rica, Prandelli rolled the dice by making a substitution at half time, and again on 60. Roy the dinosaur waited until the 80th minute to do anything, despite the problems being there for all to see. He has to start Shaw on Tuesday. Has to. Baines has been so poor, and playing luke will give him the experience to make the trip worthwhile. He also has to drop gerrard for me, and see how we get on with midfielders that can actually move around the field. Gerrard is not mobile enough to play in a two man midfield, I have said it constantly for months.
BBC has a HYS open on the hodgson does not regret his tactics. Is it bad I agree with people with more that have had their comment rated low? The positive comments are saying England are not good enough due to the premier league and crap players basically. Why is the premier league used a scape goat whenever England do ****? Costa Rica last night proved that Uruguay and Italy are very beatable with the right tactics! We're we just naive and thought we could beat both with our brand of football? When let pirlo run the game and Suarez was given freedom to the city for the night. Hodgson has to take blame for his clueless tactics.
Redknapp on England Posted at 09:22 More from QPR boss Redknapp on Sportsweek: "When I was at Tottenham two or three international players did not want to play for England. "They would come to me and say 'gaffer, get me out of the game'. It happened on quite a few occasions." This is why we're never going to amount to anything. Do you think any of the Iranian players last night would think that? Or the Costa Rican players? Or the Italians? I bet it's a lot more common than just two or three players as well.
Are we really surprised that the FA are sticking with Hodgson...they said before the tournament that the Europeans were the target. The disappointing thing though is that the games were winnable...Italy and Uruguay haven't covered themselves with glory...any of the 4 teams could have gone through...should have included England in a poor group.
No this is completely normal for BBC comments. In fact if you agree with the high rated ones it's probably time to reassess your opinion.
