Fair enough, it's just important to remember that plenty of players have incredibly impressive scoring records in lesser leagues despite not being very talented.

I would say 45m + Borini would be.

If they don't structure the deals so we never see half of it, maybe.

Really? That's say, 25m for Lallana and 15m for Lovren plus Borini being maybe a 7-8m player and it maybe helps get us around the sell-on. If it's not enough it's certainly not very far off the mark. Split that 5m you and Beefy ar quibbling about and make it 42.5m and I dunno... I think I'd do it.

I'm confused. If he's terrible then why is spending 4-5m worth a go?

On the off chance that his scoring record isn't just down to terrible defending. 4-5m isn't exactly a whole lot in today's game.

£5mill for Pelle wouldn't be bad business. Even if he isn't first choice he would be a useful option on the bench.

No thanks. I'd rather £25mill and Borini for just Lallana.

I agree that it is not an awful lot. I don't know this player at all, however he is either better than some people are saying, or he is terrible. If he is terrible, put that 5m towards someone better would be my view. If he is not that terrible, then ok,

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Would far prefer Guidetti to Pelle. His record under Koeman was amazing, he's the right age, hungry and has been in England now for a few years. He has much more top class potential than many of the other players we are being linked with and would not be overly expensive.Has played on his own and in a partnership effectively as well, which is a bonus.

Yeah, he has always looked good, and the way he played for Feyenoord tends to translate to the PL game better than Pelle's way of playing. Didn't get much action from his loan at Stoke though. Gotta wonder why.

He has not been in his new job for very long at all, but Ronald Koeman is already being linked with a notable transfer during the summer window, according to reports in the English press. Cardiff City’s David Marshall is rumoured to be on the Saints’ radar, as they look to provide their goalkeeper, Artur Boruc with some top quality competition.

Marshall greatly impressed last season, despite his heroics between the posts not being enough to save a dismal Cardiff City. He has been linked with a range of Premier League clubs until now, including Arsenal, but Southampton are keen to edge ahead in the race to sign him.
Boruc is their current number one, but there is a revolution occurring at Southampton now that Koeman has taken charge, and he has earmarked Boruc’s position as one in which he needs his options strengthened. After so much doom and gloom coming from Saint Mary’s in terms of player departures, the latest news will be a welcome break from routine for fans of the south coast side.
It remains to be seen, however, whether Marshall will favour a move which might not see him immediately inherit first team football. The ‘keeper, who is 29, enjoyed his best run of form last season, and he will not believe that he has any more time to waste in his career, playing second choice to another player.

What would anyone think about a straight swap of Shaw for Hernandez and Fellaini?

I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but I think it's unlikely you'd convince either to come here to be honest.

I agree, though never say never. If we were offered that though, I'd give Shaw and one of my arms.

Bit behind the curve on this thread but...

He was crap in eredivisie for a long time as well.

Immers would seem like a wasted signing. Surely Koeman could get Davis to perform a similar role.

I really hope his first two signings aren't Immers and Pelle or we'll have another meltdown on our hands!
