My Titania 9/2

My Titania represents a man sized bet for me tomorrow. Although its not ideal preparation having missed intended targets in both Guineas, I think she is a very, very good filly who reminds me an awful lot of her father Sea The Stars in that she only just does enough. She improved upon a good debut when landing her maiden over 7f at Leopardstown in fine style from subsequent Group 3 winner Afternoon Sunlight and she was 5L clear of Lahinch Classics who a neck behind Oaks 3rd Volume on her only subsequent start. She showed a great attitude when beating Chicago Girl in a Group 3 at The Curragh with a further 5L back to Oaks runner up Tarfasha (she clearly improved loads for the step up in trip) and in addition to the form of those two races reading really well I just love the attitude she has shown when racing. Having planned to go straight to the English 1,000 Guineas, I've no question marks about her readiness first time up and the only major concern I have about her is she's been ready to run for 6 weeks without seeing the track. Quick ground is ideal for her tomorrow and I think she is going to take a lot of beating at a price I am absolutely stunned to see available.

5.35 Ascot

Santefisio 20/1

In this contest last year, Santefisio was ridiculously unlucky having won his group by over a length on the unfavoured far side as he finished 4th overall and having taken the same route of running in the Royal Hunt Cup 2 days earlier this year as he did last year I think he's primed to run a big race dropped to 7f. Racing here off the same mark of 100 as he did so well last year, Santefisio has bagged a decent enough draw in stall 18 given that there appeared to be a big bias towards the near stand today and with trainer Keith Dalgleish in red hot form at the moment I'm hoping for a huge run here today with PP paying 6 places. Betvictor are 22s but only offering 4 places so I'd much rather back with Paddy Power unlike with American Hope today!

3 for me tomorrow.

Patience Alexander who easily beat Tiggy Wiggy last time out, that form looks top notch to me and im happy with 4/1
Western Hymm already beat a few of his rivals today and the only real unknown is Adelaide but im happy to take him on at 5/1
Lightning thunder ran a top race in the 1000 Guineas and then the Irish version on completely different ground. Only danger is my Titania but she has had her troubles this year 4/1

I'd very much plump for Rosalind in the Coronation at 12/1. My Titania, irrespective of whether she is talented or not, is a poor price. People will whoop 9/2 if she wins but she should be 12/1. Maybe 10/1 in places. Won't be betting though.

All about My Titania tomorrow, very fair price too, been awaiting her reappearance with much anticipation. Oxx will have her spot on and she will win cosily by half a length.

2.30 Ascot Bitter Lake 10/1

Been waiting for this one all week. Impressed me so much when winning on debut at HQ. Given a bit of cover before Barzalona unleashed her to storm down the centre of the track to win going away. You could tell Barzalona knew he was on a good one and rode her confidently and she made up 10 lengths or so in a furlong and a half. I think she could prove to be a very serious horse and will go very close here

After just watching the Albany Stakes (huge field of two year old fillies) and the Wolferton Handicap (big field of older horses), with just the notebook to hand, the third race does look like something to get interested in.

The so-called Ascot Derby sees only Western Hymn come here straight from Epsom after seeing Australia win from ten lengths behind him. Will the Mayor of Newmarket be in the winner’s enclosure courtesy of her husband? Snow Sky skipped Epsom, comes here fresh and may be another Stoute improver. Adelaide’s only defeat came in the Prix Hocquart when following home Free Port Lux and he looks to be well up to the standard required. The only contender to have actually won over the twelve furlongs is Godolphin’s Miner’s Lamp and he could light the way home under Ryan Moore if he can make the big step up from handicap company. Impossible to assess Dylan Mouth’s Italian form but he is penalised for having won at this grade.

Given how moderate the three year old fillies look generally this season, any one of a dozen could win the Coronation Stakes. My Titania has not had the chance to blot her copybook yet this year, so many will follow her in the hope that last season’s promise is fulfilled. Kiyoshi also comes here untried. Rizeena flopped in the 1000 Guineas, where Tapestry ended up well beaten favourite, Sandiva and Lucky Kristale were behind, Euro Charline was just in front; and Lightning Thunder was just denied a Classic victory. With her preferred quicker ground in prospect, unlike when runner-up at The Curragh, Olivier Peslier has excellent prospects of victory on his first ride on Olly Stevens’ filly. I am concerned that Lesstalk In Paris will come good now that I desert her after her no-show in the Pouliches (I note Ladbrokes are keeping her short), where J Wonder finished in front of her and her stablemate won.

As usual it is hard to get enthusiastic about any of the runners in the Queen’s Vase as it basically amounts to sizing up the pedigrees of a bunch of three year olds tackling two miles for the first time. By quarter past five, two or three of them might have found their way into the St Leger betting.

Which one is the Duke Of Edinburgh on in the Buckingham Palace Stakes?

Will have a soft spot for the Albany Stakes after Samitar won it for me at 14/1 back in 2011, and is a race I enjoy at Ascot.

Like Brough Tiger above, BITTER LAKE 10/1 might end up looking some price. Easily the most impressive debut of any of these and she looked an above average, well-sized filly who will go on improving. She quickened up and pulverized her rivals that day having given them a start. Effusive (16/1) and Malabar (33/1) offer interesting each way alternatives as absolute nailed on improvers, particularly the former who is by Starspangledbanner, getting the hang of things late at Carlisle. Malabar was an unlucky loser and travelled really promisingly in soft ground at Haydock. Fast ground will suit the Ravens Pass horse better and Samitar won this as a maiden in 2011. The big difference here is that the formlines aren't so strong (Samitar was 3rd to REGAL REALM and GAMILATI, who went on to win Group races later on), but your very small saver at those odds is fine.

Very difficult bordering on impossible today, even by RA standards, so I might just stick with following the trainers I like. Which means Malabar in the Albany for legendary English yeoman Mick Channon, Rizeena in the Coronation in the hope of seeing Clive Brittain do the soft-shoe-shuffle with her maj, and Hartnell in the Queens Vase in the hope of seeing Mark Johnston interviewed while dressed as a Victorian mill owner. Oh, and Frankie to chip out of the Bunker and onto the green for the Hannons (a **** metaphor, but then I don't play golf).

Just the one for me today, Russian Realm. Think he is a group animal and 8lb won't stop him taking this, was given a poor ride first time up but made amends last time out. Should get a good pace to go at and pick them all off in the final half a furlong

I hope Patience Alexander does the business in the Albany. The form looks very solid with Tiggy Wiggy's fine effort yesterday it'd be great for the game.
