He's clearly got a fair wad. Been paying millions since he arrived to clear up other peoples messes, but people dont seem to see that. Another 950k handed over yesterday that would be better spent on players but gone instead to paying off gfh/bates debts

I do see that, but I don't care about that bollox Eire, it's the team I'm worried about. He should have paid the compo for Dolan(who at least sounded like a good coach) rather than this eejit who couldn't coach/manage a conference side. If Cellino proves this to be a master stroke, I'll be delighted.

Kin Nora, I thought talk of Hockaday was a wind up.

    Evidently not.

Good luck for the upcoming season, not that I think you'll need it

    Promoted by Christmas I reckon.

I'm all for giving him a chance... He's obviously cheap and he'll have Carbone sticking his nose in anyway!

Stop moaning for once and just see what happens, if he's ****e then by all means tear him a new one but for now lets just be calm and see what he does!

Hiya guys. This guy is a coach with plenty to prove at the biggest club he's ever been at. Yes, the pitfalls are enormous. And the chances of failure are reasonable. But let's at leasat give him a chance. He's said to Cellino that we need strengthening in a number of areas. NSS (No sh^t Sherlock). So let's see who Cellino now brings in. We may not like it, but Hockadoodledoo has Ashley Young on his CV as a player he brought through. We may have isssues about who he now plays for. But I for one hope Hokeykokey brings through some from our acadey of equal quality.

If this is the kind of ambition we can expect from the new owner in that he won't pay £500k for first choice Dolan so goes for cheap as chips Hockaday don't hold your breathe about any exciting player signings.

When will any decent news start to come out of this club, quite expect the next news to be of any importance is that we have sold Ross.

    Right now words fail me.

I'll give him a chance, but I'm not happy about it, not at all.

I am feeling physically sick!! This has to be the WORST managerial appointment in our club's history ... when oh when will we get our Leeds United back ... Cellino has shown us with absolute clarity that he knows nothing about English football, and less about Yorkshire and Leeds United ... this appointment feels like an awful slap in the face from the new schoolyard bully now that Bates has left ... I can honestly not find a SINGLE reason to back Hockaday, not one reason ... in fact, he has already distanced himself from me with his opening comment:

"It isn't a surprise because of my background and the fact I'm a very experienced coach and obviously 20 years a player, and the fact that the president wants a very experienced British coach, then I seem to tick all the boxes."

Really? No, I mean really? No fcuking humility, no respect for the fans, just this seriously misguided comment. He should maybe have tried something like this:

"Is it a surprise? Well, I think it probably is to most people considering I haven't managed a club at such a high level before. Also, looking at the stature of a club like Leeds, its to be expected that they would get a big name coach in with a successful track record. However, I have great faith in my ability, and so I applied to Mr Cellino, met with him and outlined my plans to take this great club back to the top of English football. Sure, Leeds fans may be unfamiliar with my name, but I hope to give them a team to be proud of. So, is it a surprise? Yes, it is. In fact, I was surprised when Mr Cellino granted me an interview, but now I'm focused on working with the President to rebuild this fantastic club and making sure the best supporters in the game have something to shout about."

But no ... I read amongst the FGR fan comments that Hockaday's biggest problem was his attitude, and his first words underline this. What did he expect? Nobody in the entire footballing world expected Hockaday to even drive through Leeds never mind being appointed the new main man. Then to rub it in he appoints Junior fcuking Lewis as his right hand. Is this honestly the level of his contacts within football? Is Junior seriously the best coach he could attract to Leeds? And please don't jump in with "but he trusts him" as a reason to back this ridiculous appointment by Hockaday. The bottom line is Hockaday will struggle to command respect in the dressing room, and if he had half a brain he would have brought in someone good to support him and help him, but instead he appoints another clown who will definitely have no impact on the players. Imagine Junior telling Ross to stop trying to break the offside trap? Oh dear!!!

As Browneh said, Cellino has fcuked up massively and its going to take something extraordinary to win me over. I really fear for us next season. The analogy of Hockaday being a flight attendant at FGR is correct only in one sense, he wanted to be the pilot and crashed the plane. Remember, he had the BIGGEST budget in the league yet couldn't get the team above tenth. Why? I'm guessing he has a bad rep amongst players at that level, and even though he could pay better wages than most, players simply didn't want to go there. This is a shocking move by Cellino, and if you really think he won't be picking the team, then think again. We have a megalomaniac in charge at Leeds who fancies himself the next Capello, and he's gone and bought himself a new club where he can START OFF with his personal philosophy of doing things his way. At Cagliari he couldn't do it exactly as he wanted because he started the traditional way, but at Leeds he is setting the tone straight out of the traps ... he is going to drive the bus his way and will try and prove to the world he knows it all ... watch how quickly he will claim credit for anything that goes right, and distance himself from everything that goes wrong ... I was filled with hope when Cellino took over, now I despair ... all we can hope for is the players go "fcuk Hockaday, let's go out and play for our futures and for the fans, let's go and play our way and screw the tactics, let's go and win" ... oh well

Hope that isn't aimed at me as I certainly never ridiculed him and it still doesn't distract from an owner unwilling to pay £500k for the most important man at any club

Maybe Cellino is being crafty, he can't afford to bring in any decent players, knows the results are more than likely going to be poor so has brought in a scapegoat that we can all blame

Not at all. Dont know who said what exactly but several comments were made that Hockaday, Dolan or Gary Mac would not be suitable.

Just to clarify, Cellino knew or should have known about all the clubs debts before he took over. Thats how due dilligance works.

If he knew about them, he can't moan about them now.
If he didn't know about them, he's embarrassing himself by moaning about them now.

He's spent money, a lot of money sorting a lot of problems out, there's no doubt in my mind about that and i'm grateful for it. But whats the point in sorting loads of off the pitch problems and then shoot yourself in the foot by employing "Dave" ?

We're under 4/1 on Betfair to get relegated, and although it should, it doesn't surprise me in the slgihtest.

Cellino on Hockawally "I follow my feelings and my instinct and my feeling is that this is the right man. I could be wrong, I don’t know.”

"This has to be the WORST managerial appointment in our club's history": Billy you make me laugh mate, we haven't brought in a manager, he's a coach>

" Just to clarify, Cellino knew or should have known about all the clubs debts before he took over": RCDM thats why he brought ina team of forensic accountants to find out who's been dipping. Not really surprising is it when haigh and bates were in bed together and now haigh's still in an arab jail.

Come on guys I too am not over the moon, but give the bloke a chance. He's our uselss idiot now so see what he does and then judge him. I can't believe how many fans stuck behind BMcD after he gave us the worst results of any Leeds manager in history ..... are you saying Dave won't beat that?
