Might as well throw stones at the moon though OFH. No one of any influence will care what he says in the HOL - what he shouts will just be seen as "Sour Grapes". I heard that Blatter has already greased enough palms to ensure he is re-elected, same old motley crew as well - not doubt promised a few quid to host a football conference in somewhere really clever like The Sudan or Nigeria.
Silly question this, but how and why does FIFA have so much power? Simplistic I know, but why don't the various FA's just tell them where to get off - after all, they don't 'own' football...
One word answer BB - MONEY...FIFA hold the global rights for International football and take a massive cut off the top of all TV, Radio and all other merchandising deals. They have Billions stashed away that can be used to influence all sorts - particularly in countries that has no recognised football establishment as we would recognise. But these countries have massive clout when grouped together and can highly influence voting. Very similar to the FIA and how the IOC was a few years ago. Tucked away in Zurich and under Swiss Law, FIFA is almost untouchable from outside influence. However they may have an Achilles Heal that is looming, their major sponsors are getting restless with all this talk if corruption - I can a few cancelling after Brazil.
Man City have been fined £49M for breaching the FFP rules, but it seems that £32M has been suspended. Also they only need to name five 'homegrown' players instead of the original eight in their 21 man squad. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27798163 Why bother when a club is so powerful with the money available to it?
Blatter has suggested managers having the chance to appeal against decisions during games (2 of them) but that would mean having video technology which he is against.
I'm sure that everything is above board but this just strikes me as petty and vindictive. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27862492
Sky Sports are reporting that David Hockaday is going to be appointed as the new manager of dirty Leeds - big step up from his previous job at FGR. Can we expect a flow of ex Watford players heading to Yorkshire?
seems quite clear he won't have anything to do with recruitment...that's probably a good thing for us Interesting appointment, good luck to him
Only if they are free and on cheap wages.... He seems to have made a few promises he has been unable to keep so far. Looks like they are in a much bigger mess than he orignally thought, and will take a while to sort it all out. Well done to Hockaday, but screams as the cheap option as soon as Reading said their guy meant some compo!
So apparently Jose Riga has resigned from Blackpool all ready after only being appointed on June 3rd. He supposedly fell out with the owner Carl Oyson over the lack of transfer funds. The Blackpool fans are furious about the way in which Oyson manages the finances in a similar way we were suspicious of Simpson and Ashcroft and vanishing money.
Will this put off some of the players who were rushing to play for Leeds? http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/28264767
GT used to insist on players living within a certain distance from (or was it time to get to) Watford. A reasonable request from Cellini perhaps?
It is about time that something was sorted as everyone is a loser as things stand. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-28277408
