My feeling so far is that the BBC's coverage is far superior to that of ITV.

Lineker v Chiles is the biggest potential mismatch since dickplumb asked Kate Upton out for a date.

Positives for me on the Beeb are the wisdom of Clarence Seedorf, the sparing use (up to now) of Robbie Savage, and their World Cup theme. I would suggest that their producers in Brazil buy Neil Lennon some sun cream, he increasingly resembles a radish as the tournament progresses.

Positives for ITV.... Gabby Logan is shaping up well <cracker> the next time she does an interview on the beach, please put her in a cozzie <ok> I can't think of any others. Minus Roy Keane, they have inexplicably chosen two people - Rio Ferdinand and Ian Wright, who are simply unable to communicate in decent English. Gordon Strachan is a great pundit if you live in Auld Leekie or maybe Forest Hill. Subtitles would come in handy. Fabio Cannavaro makes Fabio Capello appear lucid, and Patrick Viera speaks a French version of whatever Rio & Wright spout.

The best punditry has been on the radio. Listen out for Tim Vickery, an educated and knowledgeable journalist who puts the ITV mob to shame. Jon Murray & Mike Ingham have both been excellent, as always. Tony Pulis has been far and away the best pundit. Really interesting bloke- very tactically astute. I always tune in to 5Live ....particularly when Clive Tydlesley is commentating <laugh>

Could be worse... You could have the dull Michael Owen on BT Sport.

For the most part the presenters, pundits, and commentators have been dreadful. And for that reason I tend to listen to classical music when I watch the football.

I am a self-indulgent and decadent fellow, you see.

I've been watching on Canadian or American streams. Usually just one commentator, who mostly just describes the action. Suits me. Hopefully the stats about the number of goals Iran scored in the 1978 World Cup etc will stop for the second round of matches.

Tim Vickery is regularly on TalkSport with Hawksbee and Jacobs and I really enjoy listening to his views. By his own admission, his only real area of expertise lies in South American football which makes him prominent in this world cup.

Presenting, punditry and commentary on terrestrial tv has been on the decline for some time. Linekers throne is under no threat from Chiles whatsover and I agree with Vol on everything about ITV. BBC pundits have been ok for me without being spectactular, Savage is bearable, Ferdinand I have found OK and if you actually listen to what Phil Neville has to say rather than allow yourself to be put to sleep by his tone, it is quite insightful.

The best pundits around these days are on sky and on radio. Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher (not Neville-esq just yet but getting there) and whatever you think of him as a human being outside of football, Stan Collymore is an outstanding football pundit.

Lineker has been king... mainly for his question to Henry

"You ever got away with a handball Thierry?"

I listen to a lot of the matches at work, enjoy 5 live, Brad Friedel was on it last night for the Brazil game, spoke very well. Vickery and Pulis as you say are decent. Just wish I could see Gabby Logan through the radio.

I love how Jonathan Pearce has gone a bit senile. Last night he still didn't quite understand what had happened two days before in the France match with the goal-line tech.

Gabby Logan has been the best so far agreed; she should anchor MOTD.

I am sorry but I can not accept Lineker as any sort of a human being after what he did to his long suffering wife and kids just so he could have sex with an 18 year old tart.

Don't worry, he's on 5live. If you go to the BBC website you can hear a recording of his commentary on Cahill's wonder goal. Enjoy!.

Unfortunately I heard it live on the train home from work. Ridiculous over reaction from a buffoon. Social media went into meltdown soon after, so Savage got the response that he wanted. Half love him, half don't. I am in the latter category. Five Live keep replaying the clip, so I will stay off it today <cheers>

Wasn't Gabby Logan looking splendid last night in that tight blue leather jacket <ok>

Has anyone else seen the clip on You Tube of Joe Hart abusing the ball ball during the Italy game <laugh>
