If they're right, that's insane. Twice what either is worth. Crikey. One thing to remember with regards wages though is we are getting almost twir as much cash than last time we were in the Murdoch league, before we were paying most signings 25-30k, so it's just gone up to match tv money. Scary though, as relegation crippled us last time, it looks like we're throwing all on red again, no lessons learned. Far, far better calibre of players this time though, so should the best happen and we get relegated to a proper football competition we should manage ok to offload most and be in a decent position compared to last time having loads of overpaid dross that no one would go near with a barge pole.
Why ? It is not your wonga. If they are good enough and perform and make the club better then so be it. Unlike Duffen and Brown we now have people doing good value for money deals. I want Hull City to be a top 10 PL club. Also, by getting Lescott it will help attract the extra quality we need. £50-60k a week for a good PL player is par for the course.
The sweaties don't seem to think there's much in the Stevie May link... http://www.eveningtelegraph.co.uk/sport/st-johnstone/no-hull-city-move-for-stevie-may-1.424959?
The article looks more wishful thinking than factual. Yes we signed Long and Jelavić, but we have lost Fryatt and will likely be losing Prossie. So I reckon that we will sign 1 or 2 strikers - he fits into the relatively cheap, young and homegrown.
Yep - the new TV deal has changed things immensely. Far more money is sloshing into clubs' accounts... and then pouring straight out into players' and agents' accounts.
I was under the impression that the figures quoted by HDM for Jela & Long's wages were badly explained. If I remember rightly, them numbers were handed about in the article about Davies' new contract talks and said 'with the two of them 9' 60k a week the club would look to bring Davies in line with that. Then a day or two Later there was reports his new deal was 30k a week. I suspect one of their reporters tried to make it sound over dramatic by adding their wage into one figure (which I still don't think was right). I'd always been under the impression Long & Jela were somewhere between £35-£40k and our top earners were Thudd & Jake I'm the 40-45 a week region (although Jake's were obviously influenced by his spurs contract). Or was I wildly misinformed?
The Irish papers suggested that Long was on a basic of £45k a week, with bonuses potentially taking it well over that amount, so I'm not sure the HDM are that far out.
With Lescott I'd presume as a free transfer he will get a huge signing on fee, let's say 5m to be spread along the length of his contract. I'm gonna guess we're paying 40k pw + the 50k signing fee so he will be getting similar to previous wage albeit made up differently. Whatever the numbers, the deal bar bonuses will be as above
He's available on a free yes but WHY! If he's that good why are Arsenal getting rid? How many games did he play last season?
Talksport think we're still in talks with Ince... http://talksport.com/football/qpr-stoke-sunderland-and-hull-all-talks-ince-14061796815? I'm not entirely convinced we were ever in talks with him.
He scored 2 in 2 for Denmark last season and 2 in 12 for Arsenal. He's a bit of a knob, but he's a more successful striker than anyone we already have on the books currently. His Premier League record is 32 goals in 136 games, but over half of those appearances were from the bench.
So we shouldn't be interested in any player Arsenal don't rate? We should be competing with Arsenal for transfers?
I'd love us to get Bendtner, he'd be the best striker at the club, and having lost matty, not only would it be replenishing our ranks but also adding to the team quality.
Lescott, ince, bendtner, if these three come off and we manage to get a left back and a cm i'll be spunking buckets. Although the ince move does seem like people are just guessing and its gone a bit quiet on the left back and centre mid front
If Figueroa carries on how he did the other day I'm not sure we need a new left half. But if we do I'd like to see us get Ashley Cole or Luke Shaw.
