I really hope so. Mr Henderson and Mr Ponsonby haven’t messed about and instead gone right to the top and secured the services of old boy Ryan Moore. Racing off 93 the LIEUTENANT is on a perch 7 lbs higher than last year when he ran 3rd (but only 2 lbs higher than when he ran 3rd in the 2013 Ces, his last run on the level) but I do think this terms renewal of the ‘Ascot Stakes’ is slightly weaker than last years. I think the Lieutenant has got a great each-way chance and 10’s looks more than fair in my book. Furthermore he hasn't run for over 2 months and usually runs very well when fresh.

Today, I also like SHEA SHEA, who may finally win a big ‘un in this land, and in the ‘lucky last’ MIDTERM BREAK. The latter at 14/1 looks to have been severely underestimated by those bookie chappies and in my view represents excellent each-way value as there was a lot to like about his recent Beverley success.

    Good luck all.

2.30 this looks a weak renewal and so TORONADO stands out. he won first time out as a 3 year old so got no worries about that today

3.05 the Coventry is always competitive. There are a couple I like the look of - ADAAY and KOOL KOMPANY who would appear to have the best form going into the race.

3.45 this is a really good renewal. I have liked the look of Sole Power this season but I understand that he has never won 2 races back to back. I think Shea Shea was unlucky last year but yet again he might find one too good and I was very impressed by HOT STREAK who I think can continue his progression and win today.

4.25 although billed as a match between KINGMAN and Night of Thunder I think that there are other dangers in this race, notably Toormore and the impressive Coventry winner last year, War Command. I will stick with Kingman because I think he has a touch of class about him but this I consider Toronado more of a banker than Kingman.

5.00 I have narrowed it down to 4 - the 2 Henderson horses, Ballinderry Boy and Ray Ward with narrow preference for SURAJ

5.35 If Adaay wins the Coventry then Mind of Madness needs to be considered. I like the look of 2 others though, MERDON CASTLE and my outside pick of the day COMMANDER PATTERN at 33/1

    Asc Tuesday

Morning chaps :) Going through the card on day one of the Royal meeting as you will see below <whistle>

In the first, you'll have no headache if you take Anodin :D And in the 3-15 Capella Sansevero changed hands after his last run for more than yesterday's Frankel package. It may be Arab money, but that's good enough for me. In the King's Stand, Hot Streak to show his elders that's it's time for them to retire, and Kingman is surely unopposable in the St James's Palace Stakes. I'm going for Balinderry Boy in the plodder's race, although surprised to see him fav, and in the lucky last. Mubtaghaa looks a cracking ew at 11-1

    2-30 Anodin
    15-05 Capella Sansevero
    3-45 Hot Streak
    4-25 Kingman
    5-00 Balinderry Boy
    5-35 Mubtaghaa

    Good luck all <ok>

Not really taking much interest in Royal Ascot, but I do think John Quinn has a nice bunch of juveniles this year and I wouldn't be shocked to see him win one of the juvenile heats at the meeting this year.

    I've got Joe's two.

The form of the wow signal race looks impressive. 2nd (9L back) in that race won nto, 3rd in that race (20L back) won nto infront of Sixty who then won a C2 maiden.

Anyone know why Ryan Moore has jumped off Sole Power? Or would the owners have gone for Hughes?

Think 5.00 Ascot Agreement 33/1 might run a big one on debut for John Quinn. Ex AOB horse who won on his 3rd and final flat start for his former Irish trainer in good style over 12f at Galway in testing conditions and has since been hurdling with Rebecca Curtis with moderate success. He switches to the John Quinn yard for his handicap debut off a mark of 91 and is upped a massive 1 mile to this mammoth 20f contest and although it's difficult to decipher how well handicapped he is and if he'll stay this trip I think he's got a decent chance in both regards. Quinn showed his adept ability with a slightly similar recruit from the Curtis yard in Swymor recently and if he can do the same with this 4 year old son of Galileo then hopefully he can go close at a big, big price.

Hello chaps, trust you are well. Ascot is a fun week but very tight on value and short of depth.

Toronado is my favourite horse in training and is a monster when he is right. At even money, I'd be ****ting myself. He has had breathing issues in two races (Guineas and Juddmonte), but cruised into his races in the Craven , St James Palace and Sussex Stakes. You will know after two furlongs whether he is right. If he is in a rhythm, relaxed, and galloping evenly, he'll be sweet as a nut. If he looka like he is trying to pull for his head, he'll be struggling with a similar issue again.

PORTAMENTO looks a right smart e/w chance for the boys in blue.

ANOTHER COCKTAIL 5.00 is by Dalakhani out of a sister to Fame And Glory. CRYING OUT for 2m 4f right?!

JACK DEXTER is now bang in form and met trouble LTO. Jim Goldir sprinters keep improving and he can go close at rewarding odds.

So there you go, a little trixie tipple at 14/1, 20/1 and 28/1

Hi. New to the forum but thought I would put one up today.
    4.35 Stratford TANGOLAN 6-1
Was going well on his comeback a few weeks ago when falling. Richard Johnson takes over now and has been quite well backed today. Decent each way bet for me.

Faustina plus in the opening chase at stratford should go well . Track and distance should be ideal Poste went well lto on faust picking up second after a long break . I can see a good improvement from that run and 11/2 looks way too big

To be fair, Royal Ascot is probably the one race meeting outside of the GN that non-racers tune in to. And if that boosts the viewing figures enough to keep horse racing on terrestrial TV for the future, it's a cheap price to pay :D

That - and it also gives me my annual laugh at Mick Fitz in his topper <laugh>

It's safe to say flat racing isn't particularly popular on this site. Can you imagine only 1 comment following the Supreme Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham?

It would be different if it was on the BBC. I used to love a bit of Royal Ascot, whingeing about the fashion segments. Now I hardly hear of it.

    Sad really.

for me Royal Ascot week is 2nd only to Cheltenham week (and to be honest I actually think the meeting keeps getting better)

considering the draw that The Wow Signal had there that was very very impressive
