Mike White on Twatter: Looks like the reports that Snodgrass is close to joining #hcafc have mileage. I'm told it's the furthest down the line but not done yet.
Pilkington does have a degenerative knee problem that needs managing though, which may stop any move for him.
I wondered whether if we bought him we might do the sensible thing and loan him to Wolves rather than straight back to The Blades.
This would make a lot more sense, although if he is good enough, he may be a straight replacement for Faye and be on the fringes for cover.
Sky Sports Football ‏@SkyFootball 55s Joleon Lescott is close to finalising personal terms with Hull City after his Man City exit, Sky sources understand. http://bit.ly/1luO8mx I hope this is true,
I hope so too, think it is a real positive move and a statement of intent which may help with other signings.
Lescott would obviously be a great addition, but I'm concerned about how many players we will end up with on £50-60k a week contracts.
Brilliant player, exciting signing, bumper wages. My mate reckons Long & Jela are on £60k a week. Reckon Les will be on the same or more. It's a hell of a lot for us.
He was on £90k a week at Man City and though he's said he's willing to take a cut to secure first team football, there's demand for his services and we won't get him on the cheap, I think it will be at least £50k a week(I assume because there's no fee, we're costing that in to the deal).
Hopefully the correct relegation release clauses and wage decreases are put in place if it should happen. I personally feel the 40-60k is a bit high for the players that we will have, long, Jelavic, maybe lescott.....but what is a comparable level team paying there players???? Say Sunderland, Swansea etc. Are we breaking a trend or is this simply how it is now????
With no transfer fee being paid, then that saving can go towards a higher weekly wage. It's more of a concern when other players get too greedy & start demanding that sort of wage I think the club are making a statement of intent for next season. The addition of Snodgrass, Livermore & a left back will make us much stronger. I hope Bruce uses the loan market wisely & brings in some young, up & coming players that want to prove a point & push for a starting place every week
I thought Long and Jelavic were on about £45k and Lescott was willing to cut his wages by half to secure a new club, or is that greatly underestimating?
