Only 3 days to go until the new seasons fixtures are announced on Wednesday 18 June. As a distraction from the world cup what will we get this time round. 2 seasons ago we had that really tough start to the campaign and last seasons suprise 0-1 win away to WBA set the foundation to a good season. There is still a novel to play out before the season kicks off in terms of transfers and managers appointments but what do we all want. A home game to start and finish? Who do we want first off - a big team or newly promoted. With 4 ex saints managers potentially visiting St Marys in Pearson, Redknapp, Pardew and Poch and ex player Gary Monk what game are you looking forward to most. And in terms of possible ex -players what sort of reception could Rickie, Shaw, Lallana, etc,etc get when they return to St Marys and what a bout Pochetino - a warm welcome for what he achieved or a frosty one for the way he departed. Should be an exciting season ahead with a new manager, potential new signings and more of the academy breaking through. Bring it on
We don't need a distraction from the world cup! That would be like someone distracting you from a delicious ice cream. First game home to Spurs would be nice, though I don't expect Pochettino will get a warm reception, no. Rickie will get a nice reception, anyone else who leaves probably won't enjoy coming back though.
WBA again please, but this time at home. I'm guessing their fans are somewhat underwhelmed by that bloke's who's name I can't remember appointment as coach. He's got about half a squad there at the mo' and a massive 15m to spend. Nice start for big Ron please. Get some points on the board before the stress and media hyped visit of Poch, Rickie or whoever else may jump ship.
I predict we will play 38 games of football, playing the 19 other teams twice each, once at "home" and the other game taking place what we call "away". Calendar events are thrilling.
Hoping we get one of the big teams either home or away first game, as most of their players will still be recovering from the World Cup.
I think we're so lucky last season as we started with some relatively easy games which helped us get off to great start. A complete difference from our first season and I think a great and easy start is so important
However shortlived I would love us to top the table at some point next season. Qpr away followed by Newcastle at home would suit me. Anyone but Sunderland away first up.
Everton away please. Or at least Liverpool. I'll be up there staying with my scouse in laws ( No oxymoron intended ).
