Given the squad he's selected there's little choice for the CM pairing so it'll have to be Gerrard and Henderson with Lallana, Barkley and Sterling playing ahead of them, with Sturridge up top.

Your team's only difference from mine is that you have Hendo and I had Ox.

    Predictable little fu*ker.

No you clueless ****. You had a 433 with a flying winger in the midfield 3, I've chosen a 4231 you moose fiddling tithead

Are you aware of the role inam referring to. Gerrard, carrick or jones can all do it. Carrick and jones would be bwtter options in a back 5 due to being able to play as centrebacks.

And if gerrard isnt in tge team.... Who else is captain? Rooneys the obvious choice after gerrard.

Now we begin to disagree <ok>
Jones should be nowhere near that deep lying midfield role (or middle CB with license to push higher, whatever you want to call it). His passing is completely one dimensional and would offer us no platform to launch counter attacks from.

The midfielder to play alongside Henderson has to have energy to support the attack and defense. That player is not Carrick who'd be better off as a backup for Gerrard's DM role after 50/60mins when he's nackered as someone who can sit just infront of the CBs and pick a pass.

I don't want them launching attacks. I want them sitting back, cleaning up and barely ever going forward. They are defenders in this role. Carrick was mentioned for that role not alongside henderson as well. He would allow us to do what you said, play from the back, should we want to.

Of course we cant do that as hes not there so its pointless discussing him tbh. Just mentioned him as someone who could do the job.

    Jones instead of Gerrard <laugh>

Carrick should be in the first team, let alone the squad <laugh> <laugh>

And wait.... Rooney should be captain <laugh> <laugh> <laugh>

What next? Cleverly should partner Carrick and not Henderson? lol

ok ok ok... this is all basically supposition, innuendo and club biased based.

example: there is no logical evidenced based approach to put sterling in midfield in a 433, not form club and not from country.

thats just one example there are MANY.

    What do we really know?

Should, and could qre two different things.

What will be done and should be done are again two different things.

I can only say that hodgosn will in all likelyhood not make a radical decision now and all his preparations seem to have been based on a certain set up which is quite familiar to anyone forced to endure his face rubbing anfield stint.

Therefore I am of the opinion that we are FAR more likely to see the same set up as the opening game tried once more v uraguay with possible, perversely, the only change being taking sterling out.. and of course by the same set up i mean two strikers tied to the wings while welbeck plays up front. If chamberlain is agai nfit that might be the change made.

I simply do not see a sweeping of any old gaurd and i still maintain that while this group is actually no great shakes england were always going to do the same negative defensive game plan.... nothings changed.

Roy hasn't got the stones to drop Rooney.

He'll therefore persevere with him, no doubt moving him inside and sticking Sterling out wide right. Which then gives him the problem of where to play his lovechild Welbeck...........unless he drops Sturridge for Rooney and keeps Sterling in the No.10 slot......

like i said.... Hodgson will be conservative. Lallna has vanished so far, will he come in? will barkely? or will we find welbeck wide left and sturridge wide right?

All IMO hodgson wanted for italy was a 451. he used two strikers for width.. why i don't know... will he continue to go down this line... i think so. I can't see a big system change now though it may make sense to us... after all other teams know their system and have played it for 2 years.. it'd be pub team like t throw an new system at it now.

But of course i could be wrong and he's had a plan he's been working on with the team for the past month for each game.. but i still doubt it.... if i hear "welbeck" on the team sheet (never mind dropping rooney welbeck is the misfit if you believe sturridge should play) I know it'll be more of the same.

    I'd not be surprised in the slightest if he picked this line up;

    Gerrard Hendrson

    Welbeck Sterling Lallana

    Rooney

nothing hodgson does would surprise me bar picking an attacking line up. But dropping englands goal scorer won't occur... now putting him RB thats nother matter

Can't have Welback and Sturridge in the same side... they're basically the same player except Sturridge took all the skill. And goals.

    My team vs Uruguay

    --------------------Hart
    Sterling-Sterling-Sterling-Sterling
    ----Sterling-Sterling
    Sterling-Sterling-Sterling
    ----------Sturridge

Think we will do ok might be a few yellow cards though due to Sterling's tackling.

It'll just be another game, another failure from Rooney who we keep hearing is "the best player in the England team."

How DE-motivating for the upcoming next generation to hear they are not as good as the flop who fails ALL. THE. TIME.
