I've been told that JdG wont be coming back to the Liberty after the world cup. Allegedly he's Villarreal bound and they want to max out on his exposure at the world cup. Due to this they've gone back on an agreement with us which gave us first offer, at a greatly reduced price; we've paid 100% of his salary, insurance, housekeeping etc. etc. for the last two years. Villarreal feel they stand to lose €m's if they sell to us under such an agreement and have increased his value to €10m and are putting him up for sale after the world cup ends, or when he returns if sooner. I can't find anything about this on t'internet and I am a little sceptical. My source is prone to over excitement and exaggeration, when he 'knows' something others don't but, he did seem to know an awful lot about this. As they say, "there's no smoke without baccy" so, does anyone have any knowledge of this ?
If we came to an agreement that is not enforceable at law, or at least with EUFA, then more fool us. Trouble is we have a track record of naivety and incompetence in such matters.
If we had wanted him that much we would have signed him at the begining of last season when we had the opportunity. I would like to see him back but if the price isnt right then there is always somone else out there.
No, Dai is the one on the sauce Mikra. Your right DB, not a ringing endorsement but the reason I'm even asking is because it just came up, un announced in conversation. We were actually talking about the best game so far, I proffered the England game as it had just finished and was fresh on my mind. Conversation then moved to the Holland Spain match and after a few minutes this flowed out, unprompted. It was the natural manner he told us that has made me think "hmmmmm. Maybe he does know something" He is linked with the club from the outside but in a capacity where he might hear snippets, auto sum them and make 5. It is a little ambiguous I know, but they way it happened got me thinking that he may actually be on to something this time. So, here we are and I thought I'd ask the gang if anyone had anything on this.
Not to bothered....one way or the other , lots of pros and cons both ways . Plays ok but will be well overpriced ...
Happen to agree RJ, he doesn't shake the earth for me either but he does fit nicely in with our style and he and Shelvey go well together. Would be nice if he came on our terms but if Villarreal are taking the pish then a new recruit may be good for us, as long as we do sign someone and not rely on Ki, who is a bench warmer at best imo.
