3rd signing to be announced on Monday?

Seem to be a lot of rumours that we have tied up our third signing of the summer and are due to announce the deal on Monday. Player is said to be from the French league.

Nufc fans is basically Umar.
He's a notorious bullshitter who makes Cwarr look like a credible source.
Still hope he is right though.

 

That's the thing, 'Colin' is the most notorious pony talker on twitter but I still find myself hoping his bullshit is true!

This Monday thing does stem from that article and that's probably all it's from. We live in hope.

To be fair to Umar, he rarely makes claims himself but just copies things off other sites. He seems to have the odd contact in the industry but nothing that a competent journo would make a career off. He'll have got this rumour from somewhere it just depends if the site/person he got it off has made it up. He used to frequent my usual NUFC forum until he got pissed off with us and ****ed off a couple of years ago. It was the same back then though, 'here's this rumour..... discuss.....'. For a single source for NUFC info, I'll give him credit, NUFCFans is probably as good as anything on Twitter that I've found.

 

Have to say all this "in the know" or passing of rumours bores the hell out of me. That's the way it is though. You're lucky if 5% is reality. I still think the Aubameyang rumour is the funny one. Selling for half the fee they paid after a good first season.

 

I hate to be pedantic, but is there any specific time I should be looking out for? 11am is fast approaching, but it's not Friday so I'm just a bit confused...

If you believe the NE press, the big announcement was released at 10:30 - the announcement being there'll be a big announcement in a few days time....

 

The NE press is particularly consistent today:

The Journal - 'Newcastle United's recruitment drive is likely to go on the backburner for the majority of the World Cup – as they play a waiting game for their designated targets.' Also state that Charnley has gone on holiday.

The Chronicle - 'Newcastle United chiefs aiming to crank things up in the transfer market... Toon chiefs are hoping to make progress in the transfer market this week... Lee Charnley is back from vacation now so United could step up their efforts'.

Translation being... 'we're shut out and know **** all but are desperate to still sell papers.'

 

Either way, pleased that Charnley is having/getting a holiday ..its not like the beginning -ish of the summer transfer window is a good time to be negotiating for players... much better to save your effort and energy for November.

I'm sure they say every year about the same time of year that not much progress has been made as we've been off on our summer holidays like the fans are supposed to be like 'oh, right. Of course thats understandable'

 

Right off on holiday. Becuase Charnley does so much during the season.

 

It's not that difficult to understand to be fair.

The Journal is printed in the morning and Charnley has just gone on his holiday.

The Chronicle is printed early afternoon and Charnley has now returned from his holiday.

We all know Micky's love of zero hour contracts for his employees. Well Charnley is probably on a zero hour contract which should mean that Charnley is on a zero hour holiday break.

Not sure why there is any confusion!!!

 

Charnley only gets half a day and he was spotted buying chips and large battered sausage from a chippy in Whitley Bay.
