That's what I thought. I didn't realise he was only 26. It seems like he's been around for ages. I wonder what Norwich paid for him?
I think it was for about £2.5 million. He has been quite an important player for us, and certainly one of our best last season. I would say perhaps £5 million is a little more realistic.
I've always rated him and felt he was the type of player we should have gone for when we were last promoted. He'd be a useful and reliable player who will score his fair share and he knows how to take a free kick. However if Norwich want to piss him off by pricing him out of the market then so be it. I think we should have learned by now that players who come at a price, do the rounds from one relegated club to another. They are simply not worth the gamble. As journeymen go, he's one of the best but I don't think many will want a team made up of players with those credentials.
Would we want him when we have Matty Phillips? Not to mention Petrasso. I would want to spend the money elsewhere.
Not with 12 months left on his contract, he can sign for celtic or any other foreign club for free in january.
Its not just a question of that, are norwich willing to write off £3m just to have him for the next 12 months? Thats the sort of thing wed do. Norwich should get what they can for him and replace him with someone with a longer contract if he doesnt want to stay. Snodgrass is a decent player but not one youd waste lots of money on just to get him now. Id be quite happy to wait.
