Disrespectful offer. Really is. Look at the price tags for players like Neymar, Sanchez and Hulk, who have yet to establish themselves at a level Fabregas has and in a league as competitive as the Premiership. Look at some past signings like Andy Caroll and how much Barcelona payed to get Ibrahimovic. Barcelona are the best team in the world. Unfortunately they think they run the football world and can do what they want. Fabregas is not worth a penny less then 45mil. If i was Arsenal i would not settle for less then 50mil. Fabregas himself should be insulted by how much Barcelona value him, when he sees players being bought for higher fees that have not been as good as him.
I doubt that they actually expected to get Cesc with that offer, just showing everyone that they are still interested, and that they will get him at the end of the day.
We never offer the asking price hence why we never get the better players. Most of our players were bought next to nothing at a young age. The only player who was an established player in our starting 11 was Arshavin. Quite simply AW does not even attempt to buy established world class players because he is not willing to pay. He prefers to build players to become world class. Barcelona do want to buy a world class player and their bid is insulting. They are trying to dictate to us and publicly how much Fabregas is worth. Apparently last season he was worth £35mil so he must be worth less this season because he had a poor season by his standard and therefore is worth £30mil. Like i said trying to dictate value.
We should up our asking price after that. Show them we mean business and can play their little game just as well.
Don't really see your point about the Ibrahimovic transfer. Barcelona paid £40m + Eto'o, so in reality a transfer in excess of £60m, that shows they will pay well over the odds and not simply make 'insulting offers' or try to dictate values. The Andy Carroll arguement is null and void also as he was never worth £35m. Realistically he was worth £15-20m, only Liverpool were flush with cash from the Torres sale and desperate to sign replacements. If you get offered anything near £35m I'd take it. Fabregas clearly doesn't want to be there and that has been reflected in his performances on the pitch. He's not behaved like a captain should recently, if things aren't going his or Arsenals way he throws his toys out of the pram and moans - he should be leading by example. Sell him to Barcelona for £35m and re-invest in a couple of quality players. If RVP and Vermaelen stay fit, and you get some good signings next season then there's no reason why you can't be realistic contenders. You don't need Fabregas, nor to Barcelona in reality. He'll be on the bench there for at least a season.
They paid £25m for that goat of a Russian defender and they value Fabregas as worth only £2m more?Absolute jokers, I reckon Fergie would happily pay £40m for him no problem(City would prob double that). When will UEFA act with these Spanish twats? Its not for a lack of evidence as everyone who owns a Barca shirt appears to have issued a statement RE Fabregas. Both Madrid and Barca get away with this crap every year yet Platini sits there stuffing garlic up his arse and does nothing. What is the point of him?A six figure salary(plus cough cough bonuses) to present trophies? UEFA/FIFA = Footballs Shame
Have to agree with most of this. The way Barca, their players etc have gone about this whole Fabregas thing is an absolute farce but they have Unicef on their shirts so can do what the **** they like. Clearly they see him as their player and begrudge paying over the odds. Well he's not a Barca player. Arsenal developed him and made him the player he is today. He's been at your place, what 8 years now?!?1 Barca need to get over themselves. I loved the pleading poverty nonsense earlier this week. You have a 60 million pound striker out on loan you arrogent ****s!! Sell him to Madrid.
My point is that they valued Ibrahimovic so much that they paid 40mil and in my opinion a better striker in Etoo who scored goals for fun. How can they value him so much yet Fabregas so little. As for accepting a bid of 35mil, you cant be serious. Yes he wants to play at Barcelona, but he is also happy to stay at Arsenal for another season. I think it will be difficult to keep Fabregas once Xavi starts to decline.

Yeah good point. I remember the good old days when Arsenal players used to talk about our transfer targets having Arsenal DNA. And then shoving Arsenal shirts over their heads. And offering even less money that got turned down a year before.
There is playing hardball in negotiation which I do not have a problem with, but using the media to try and unsettle your target/bully the club is just plain disrespectful. I am almost certain that people only know about this bid because Barca let people know about it. Negotiating should be done club to club which is something we try to do always.
It's just a tester offer man. Barca go in low, Arsenal go in high, and then they meet somewhere in the middle. I'd say he's worth £40mill. Or £30mill and a promising Barca youngster in return. He's obviously a brilliant player, but he's also young and could feature regularly in the Barca side for the next 8+ years. Good investment and worth a good price.
It's just a negotiation fellas, is there really any need to get your knickers in a twist! £31M would put him in the top 5 Transfer Fees EVER paid for a Midfielder, hardly an insult.
90% of the comments from Barca players about Cesc were made up by the papers, Barca even came out and said they were false and would sue the english papers if they carried on posting them, also Puyol came out and said he never said them and the whole Barca DNA thing was Iniesta was asked in an interview what he thinks about Fabregas and would he like him to become his sucesser and he said hopefully, he's a player i really like, he has Barca DNA the way he plays and passes
I think there is a difference between a club making an enquiry for a player or a club making an offer for thqt player (even a low one) and players or owners or coaches or presidents or socuts or dinner ladies or the press manager and who ever else wants to have there say telling the media that fabregas has barca DNA or that his desperate to sign and all the other nonense that comes out of barcelona. Theres a way in football to conduct yourself and Barcelona clearly believe they are above this I'd say sell him to Madrid or failing that to Italy or Germany and have a first refusal clause put in his contract!
I think the degree to which you unsettle your target does matter, we never make direct comments about transfer targets. With the Samba issue I think we are only fuelling the media's interest to use him as a smokescreen to be honest.
