    At the world cup?

Surely he will be keeping an eye open on potential players, that may be available.

I thought we were going to do a lot of business early on.

We got Billy and Geordie in and I know that some have gone but when will Gus be back from Brazil? ... Sometime in July I think.

It doesn't look like we'll be getting any in for the next few weeks.

Maybe things are underway with some players that don't need Gus to be here and Short/Byrne/Congerton can sign them.

it must be Congertons job with maggie to sort out all the paperwork. Gus is doing a fine PR and talent spotting role for us

No. The same player before the world cup would cost less. There are no bargains at the world cup.

Poyet can do business from anywhere in the world. That's modern communications. I wouldn't worry, we'll get them in as and when we can.

Any player who shines at the world cup will have about 20 clubs after him. Better off going for players now who are not at the world cup.

They'd better be sorting out 14/15, including scouting and negotiating additions to the squad and not sitting on their arses or worrying about the length of the grass on the pitch!

Spot on fella, You only need to look at players like Mannone, Borini, and Giacc to see there's plenty of quality that haven't gone who would improve us.

We picked up Gyan after the last world cup.

There may well be some players from the lesser countries at the world cup who demonstrate that they can cut it at the top level, but in general I agree with you. I hope that Gus has already identified his targets for this close season and left it to the money men to negotiate signings.
