When I worked at the stadium within the executive catering and serving the fans bit of it

Lindley catering was in charge, SAFC then took over and just made their own sub-company, therefore will just be them expanding really

Workforce is already there due to the amount they employ at the stadium, possibly some specialised chefs...simple really

    Aye owned by the council

    http://www.sunderland.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=8305

Which will mean the land thats been proposed for the hotel will be owned by them aswell, that will be the hold up

Our council is a disgrace, Sepp Blatter would be an improvement.

Think the plan is to buy up all of the sheepfold factories etc and to create a sports village. Hotel, tennis, squash courts, cafés etc. I heard over half was now purchased and the plan was to have this up n running by 2020.

They got the land for £25k.

Mind it looks a bit "fur coat and no knickers" - will it look so good after the first winter storm has battered it and the constant sea harr can be very corrosive- I lived at the Marina for a year or so in a town house, so its not going to look new for long.

Its a good idea I just think it will be unsustainable unless you have an airshow every other weekend.

I can remember watching a documentary about the city centre years ago. There was a dispute going on about who was running the place between some big fat bloke wearing an iron mask with a midget sitting on his shoulders & a loud mouthed woman with frizzy hair. I think they were Labour councillors or something.

I thought the club would have developed the land around the stadium, some nice bars etc.
