I've never questioned either colback or Clark as a player lads, jus the facts they all end up shafting us in the end. If other fans are happy with that then fine. I'm not. There is fault in our side too I agree but if you believe the clubs statement, you must also accept we offered him everything he demanded and held off at his request until safety was achieved. Then he stabbed the club and its fans in the back, fans that constantly tell me we should support even though they are b&w at heart. I will never make that mistake again. Its up to others to make their choices from now on in.
The problem is I don't, look at our wage structure, we would never have offered him 50k a week. Also if they were so keen to keep him why did they not offer him that amount in the summer. Our club has been a shambles as far as signing and contracts go, look at what happened with Gyan for instance. I don't believe them at all.
Oh I agree and believe the club statement. Still our fault, We didn't offer what he wanted until mid season. Apparently Di Fanti didn't even offer a pay rise. Should never had gotten to the stage it got to to give him the chance to do this.
This sounds like a good policy to me, it appears to make sense, which is more than be said of our current series of self inflicted fiasco's. I would like to know what Short is thinking, we watch with interest to see how the club handles these matters in future, it has to improve, as it surely cant get worse.
Same here mate, I just think Short must know what he is doing, its not like the guy has not been very successful in business. I just wonder if all the agents and football people are giving him the run around. I just read Alan Sugars book, the **** he got at Spurs from the "football" people at the club and the press was insane. He points out most people in football don't have a clue how to run a business. I just wonder if Short needs more business people around him and less football agents. I think SNQ was a big loss to the club as he understood both the football and business side.
What gets me about Colback is, for being a boyhood fan of Newcastle why do that goal celebration when he scored our third against them and the twitter photo showing him doing the 0-3 sign. If it was me and I scored against Sunderland I would'nt even celebrate. At the end of the day he's gone to a club where he does'nt even need to move house and for more money, don't think you you can blame him really
SUNDERLAND plan to open contract talks early with Connor Wickham and Vito Mannone in a bid to avoid the mistakes of the recent past. The Black Cats stars are about to enter the final year of their contracts at the Stadium of Light. And this time there will be no hanging about by the club when it comes to nailing down players who they see as part of Sunderland’s long-term future. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...be-quick-to-talk-to-wickham-mannone-1-6668005
I'm just not prepared to judge a book by its cover mate...I try and treat people on individual merit and not as a collective. Clarke fell into a stupid trap, which I firmly believe he regretted. Colback is a very different scenario, where I think that our club were partly to blame by not improving his contract 18 months back. I still think that he has shafted the Poyet et al though who tried to right the wrongs.
I don't think we did offer him that much - at the time of negotiations there was no 50k offer on the table so I reckon we probably offered him around 25k. I do believe we offered him what his representatives wanted then got gazumped by West Ham and Newcastle in the last 6 months of his contract (where he is allowed to talk to other clubs). I believe the club s statement that we offered what he asked for but I also don;t believe it was £50k
