Listening to the radio today and the DJ said he wasn't allowed to use the word World Cup because it was a trade mark!! Surely not? He kept calling it the world football festival. :-(

Its common usage and in the public domain we all use it. So unless everyone that mentions it will be sued, its utter bull.

I did hear right and the DJ was being serious! Maybe it's an independent radio thing I don't know!

They just can't use the brand to advertise Etc. Like a radio World Cup competition.
Same way it costs to play a song.

They can talk about it just as anyone can. But if they had a World Cup type competition etc there may be IP issues.

    Seems like a misunderstanding!!
