I think a 1 year deal to start with suit both parties. I was talking with him towards the end of the season 2/3 games too go, he said he liked the club, gets on really well with Mr Cotterill and was hoping that something could be sorted.

I agree leave Sam as the club and first team captain. But every manager will tell you that to have eleven captains on the pitch is the ideal and Wade Elliott certainly fits that.
