One player we should really be pushing the boat out to sign. We should be in pole position but you're never sure with Sunderland. And west ham seem to be throwing money about at the minute
Suited to Gus Poyet's style of play, he's proven that. By signing for West Ham he's essentially starting from scratch, he could drown having to play to Sam's dinosaur tactics.
This is typical of Sunderland. This lad should have been the first one in once our safety was confirmed.
Allardyce left Bolton around 2007. Alonso arrived there from Real in 2010 and left in 2013, so they probably haven't met. Whatever, Poyet needs to show his hand if Alonso is on the wanted list. Same goes for Ki and Borini. Other clubs will be keeping tabs on these lads too.
**** Ki, showed his bottle, or lack of, when the chips were down. Don't want him, not one bit. Marcos battled and fought throughout, and improved as the games went by, I desperately want him to sign on.
i'd actually say the lack of news means it could be done. agents make noise when things aren't happening - see ki - so this may be in the works
Sounds like paper talk to me. I've got a west ham mate who said there being linked with every lb going atm because they released McCartney and sent back there other lb who was on loan. As for the 50k offer can't see it being true either they haven't got a pot to piss in. I think he'll come back to us, he seemed like he was really enjoying his football under gus.
Sunderland will have to wait until next month at the earliest before they can sign Marcus Alonso, with West Ham United also interested in the left-back. The Hammers have had a written bid for the Spaniard turned down, but Fiorentina want to see the 23-year-old in pre-season before deciding his future. Alonso spent the second half of last season on loan at the Stadium of Light and performed well in what is traditionally a problem position for them. However, having apparently missed out on midfielder Ever Banega, the Black Cats now have competition for Alonso. Gustavo Poyet, though, has an extra bargaining chip in Modibo Diakite. The French central defender struggled to adapt to English football last season but was a regular in Serie A after moving to Florence on loan in January. Diakite started nine league games and two Coppa Italia games, playing at right back and in central defence as part of a pairing and a trio. Until joining Sunderland, Diakite had spent his whole career in Italy, coming through the ranks at Serie B Pescara before moving to Lazio. With the Wearsiders, who yesterday revealed a new all-blue change strip, keen to get Diakite off their wage bill, he is sure to be offered in part-exchange. Alonso played for Sam Allardyce at Bolton Wanderers and West Ham’s manager has already suggested a season-long loan with an option to buy at the end of it - but Fiorentina have rejected the idea. Nevertheless, with captain Manuel Pasqual and Juan Manuel Vargas as competition, it is likely they will be prepared to let Alonso go later in the summer. Banega, meanwhile, is expected to join Marseilles from Valencia for £8m. The presence of compatriot Marcelo Bielsa in the Marseilles’ dugout appears to have persuaded the 25-year-old to join them over the Black Cats. Uruguayan coach Poyet signed three Argentinians – Ignacio Scocco, Santiago Vergini and Oscar Ustari – during the January transfer window. Meanwhile, youth coach Chris Blake has left Carlisle United to take an analyst’s role with Sunderland’s under-21s. He said: “I wasn’t looking to leave Carlisle but when Sunderland called and offered me the position I was very flattered.”
Give us Alonso on loan with the right of redemption. And 'this was the offer made by Sunderland to confirm the Spaniard (left fielder has played in England the second half of the season just ended). Offer, however, returned to the sender, because, as written, however, yesterday, Fiorentina will evaluate the former Bolton during the withdrawal of Moena and tour prior to the start of the season. Moreover Alonso has had a strange season, because Italy has not been able to express himself very well; on the contrary, the Channel showed a great player, contributing greatly to the salvation of Sunderland and the achievement of the final of the League Cup. http://www.fiorentinanews.com/2014/06/lofferta-respinta/
--------------------------------------- Bolton WanderersAlonso joined Bolton Wanderers of the Premier League for an undisclosed fee, on 27 July 2010.[4][5] He made his competitive debut for the club in a Football League Cup 1–0 away win against Southampton on 24 August;[6] his first league appearance arrived on 1 January 2011, starting for suspended Paul Robinson in a 1–2 loss against Liverpool at Anfield.[7] Alonso scored his first goal for Bolton on 31 March 2012, netting the second in an eventual 3–2 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers.[8] At the end of the 2012–13 season he was voted The Bolton News' player of the year, winning 37% of the vote: Marc Iles wrote, "...this has been a break-out season for the former Real Madrid starlet. Alonso has grown in stature and become a consistent performer at full-back – chipping in with some important goals too."[9] ------------------- Lazy lazy journalism! Guess they assume because he played for a club Sam once managed then he must have managed him even though, when Allardyce was at bolton, Alonso was at school!!
