Birmingham targeted for takeover by UK consortium A UK-based consortium, headed by Mike Farnan and Adam Pearson, have entered the race to buy Sky Bet Championship outfit Birmingham City. Farnan was among those in the running to take control at Leeds United prior to Massimo Cellino’s successful purchase of the club. He has now turned his attention to another second tier side, with Birmingham looking for fresh investment. The Blues revealed in May that they were in ‘advanced discussions’ with a British consortium, but no agreement has been reached as yet. Farnan hopes his proposal will help to force the issue, with the former Manchester United director of the opinion that there is considerable potential at St Andrew’s waiting to be unlocked. He told Sky Sports: “Birmingham City are a major club with a huge catchment area.” While Farnan has previously worked at the top of the Premier League with United, Pearson has spent time as chairman of Derby County and head of football operations at Hull City. He is currently the owner of Rugby League side Hull FC. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ingham-targeted-for-takeover-by-uk-consortium
Anyone who buys Birmingham City better make sure they do a very thorough 'due diligence'. Skeletons in cupboards spring to mind.
I hope its true and I hope he succeeds. Be a massive weight off my mind knowing he won't be coming anywhere near us.
I assume you're referring to FC? Honestly, don't care. I'd be happy if we didn't share the KC but that is what it is, and won't be getting my hopes up on that score. Under or instead of, I can't think of a single situation where I'd want him back.
We've had that thread and its official roughly 90% dont want him back here. That makes it done deal and a fact of all the City fans who support the club dont you know.
Sort of. Its quite ironic, that in a yes or no situation the majority are saying no, and yet many are singing his praises for what he did and would welcome him back tommorow in a CEO type role. Just goes to show its all about the question you ask not the answer you get.
I don't understand him, I'm old school who thinks an owner of a club should be a fan or at least have some connection! AP is just making himself look stupid! He's obviously looking at the prem money and wants a bit!
I can see why he was interested in buying Leeds because potentially they are a huge club from a big city. There is money to be made there if you get it right. Likewise Birmingham, big city club with massive potential. Just why he is pissing about in the tiny world of rugby league is a mystery to me. If he mixes in circles who together can put serious bids on the table for football clubs the size of those two then why the **** is he wasting his time, effort and money on a tin pot rag tag and bob tale minority sport with no money, no future and dying on its feet shambles that is rugby league?
Although that is true a football club would cost you a lot more to run generally. My car is a Meriva instead of a Ferrari not by choice but it's all I can afford
From next season Sky are paying £1.8m a season up to 2021 and with gate receipts and merchandise some of the teams turn over £6-8m. Leeds even though it is included with the cricket and rugby union turn over £12m. There is a salary cap on wages which is approximately up to the amount of tv money so gate receipts and merchandise sales less stadium running costs and admin staff and there is potential profit there.
