Turns out he is on his holidays...

"Swansea City's £6.9m move for Dutch hot-shot striker Luc Castaignos is still on the cards – despite summer breaks putting talks on hold.

Swansea saw an offer accepted by FC Twente for the 21-year-old more than a week ago.

And the Netherlands Under 21 frontman is being seen by Liberty boss Garry Monk as an attacking addition as he looks to give his side greater firepower going into the new season.

But Monk is known to be still on the look-out for other options – including Standard Liege striker Michy Bathsuayi – before pushing ahead with deals.

Yet the delay from lodging a bid and thrashing out a potential move from the Eredivisie for the former Inter Milan striker Castaignos has been played down by Twente chairman Joop Munsterman.

Munsterman has revealed Castaignos is still on vacation, as is Swans chairman Huw Jenkins, and suggested the deal had been left on ice before their respective returns.

“It will be a while before things can be done,” Munsterman told Voetbal International. “The choice is up to the player. Only when Luc is back from vacation and is negotiating with Swansea can we expect progress. And as I have said, the clubs can work it out.”

Castaignos' arrival is a real possibility with his wages believed to be within Swansea's structure, the club willing to pay-out the fee for a player with raw potential having already scored a hit when they brought Bony over from Dutch football last summer."

I don't usually start rumours (because I never hear any, lol) but I was told that Michu's injuries are serious and that he may never play for Swansea again, or any other PL team for that matter, as he would never pass a medical. The only country who might take him on are a Russian side (?, standards slacker?). This might account for his fits of depression towards the end of the season.

It was also suggested to me that Chico Flores is also history with Swansea City.

I'd rather keep Chico than Williams.

And Rangel and Amat. Pablo snd these two are the only ones worth keeping.

As for Michus injury, it would explain why we are looking for two strikes.

The club is suffering because of personal infighting between Huw and Garry vs players and Laudrup over the year , getting transfers in isn't the biggest concern for me , it's Monk being able to structure them into a unit .Monk will have my support but it comes with a nervous gut feeling .

Of course transfers are important, ship out those who ain't listening to Monk, regardless of who they are and sign replacements, solves the problem of unity instantly. Can the concentrate on training and tactics etc.

What I feared. Monk's "Night of the Long Knives". I rate Chico well above Williams but Monk is going to try and angle a lucrative contract for his buddy. Williams' performances have been sliding for a while now and at his age he ain't going to get any better/quicker either. I have to wonder whether Monk is acting in the best interests of the club here. I suppose it will all come out in the wash.

Footnote: Seems that Laudrup was right in trying to cash in on Williams a year or so ago. We would have got about £8 million for a player just starting to edge below his best and could have invested it in some younger talent.

I've an awful feeing that you're right regarding Williams ,with Amat & Chico coming in and Bartley already here perhaps Laudrups' thinking was we could sell Ash without too much disruption although a hell of a risk to take .Ash had a poor season last year both as a player and imo as Captain ,I wonder how much of his agents' recent comments are actually Williams or at least a large proportion knowing that he has the backing of the manager .?

So much disrespect towards ash here when he hardly put a foot wrong and saved the team many times stopping goals with good organised defending. Monk don't have any issue with any Spanish player, Why would he...I know some on here are still smarting because monk got the job and are trying anyway they can to discredit monk but luckily its only a couple on here as the vast majority think monk is doing a good job and will do well next season with welsh ,english Spanish and every other nationality we have in the squad.....

Gutted if true ,but with Moralee vociferous in speaking to the media , to me it looks like he's trying to force the issue and black mail the club ,not a good idea .

there is an element of black mail i will admit but its nothing that any other player who only has a year to run wouldn't do. He will get a pay rise and he will sign is my opinion because its stupid to leave a player of his caliber leave for a poultry £4m. He is worth double that at the very least. Why would clubs in the premiership and abroad want a duff player....

Duff has signed for Melbourne City (now owned by Man City) after leaving Fulham. They have also signed David Silva for a ten match stint. I wonder where all this cash is coming from??, anyway back to the topic, dunno if he should stay or go, as previously mentioned he did not have the best of seasons

Agree. If his agent/Ash are holding the club to ransom, what better way for Monk to wipe the slate clean with everyone and showing there is no favourites with him (at least publicly anyway) by telling the board to sell him. Nobody is bigger than the club and he didn't have a great season and should be in no position to be making demands etc.

That said, if we did keep him and he doesn't sign a new contract, he should be 3/4th choice CB next season and it should be Chico, Bartley and Amat occupying the two CB positions regularly.

    Agree....
both Amat and Bartley should be given the heads up when they get back that they will both be getting lots of football this year with Ash in reserve.
If they pass the audition they will be given some of what Ash was being offered at the end of the season when he leaves....significant pay rise and contract extension.
Might be only one of them rise to it, might be both (if we're lucky) might be that it doesn't go so well and we are forced to bring Ash back into the side....fact is we would know where we are with the CBs come the end of the season....and that's all that really matters to me.

Aint going to happen, Ash will always be first choice if fit and rightly so. without him we struggle at the back...Nobody is perfect but one thing you can say about ash is he is a solid performer and gives 100%, He is one of the best in the premiership...<ok>

Well it should happen if Monk cares about the future of Swansea City more than his pal.
