Oh dear... http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/06/10/adam-lallana-favela-england-visit_n_5477417.html
Oh dear indeed. I think we all had our suspicions after we saw his modelling shoot for FCUK. The boys stock is dropping drastically. Sell before the inevitable World Cup injury?
I sincerely hope that was taken out of context or edited because that's an impressively stupid comment.
and there's more, now he's upset Hartlepool... http://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/spo...england-arrive-in-rio-for-world-cup-1-6663614
Football fans puzzled by footballer behaving like a bell end shocker. The problem is that we've been deluded by the likes of Rickie and JWP into thinking that most footballers are actually quite intelligent and articulate, as well as being quite nice people. Until the last two seasons, Adam has played his whole career in the lower leagues, and now he has become a bit of a celebrity, he really isn't up to the task.
Is what he said really as dickish as we're making out here? It wasn't exactly modest, but are we supposed to pretend it wouldn't be a big deal for a football-loving kid to meet the England team?
Them being delighted for an afternoon and the experience changing their lives are two vastly different things
I don't think its that bad. If you've never had a microphone thrust at you and asked a stupid question then its hard to comment. Upon reflection, of course he could have worded it differently but it was just an 'off the cuff' comment; the sort of gaff that any of us could have made under pressure.
How do we know the context? He might have been asked a question, and gave a nice jokey answer? Hard to judge from a singular quote.
Very true LFF, though undoubtedly he'll have had some media training, you have to remember that every comment gets picked up on. It's not great, but there are worse things. I just hope for his sake it doesn't get picked up nationally and used as a classic "British media during World Cup" stick to beat him with. Stop. Breathe. Think. Answer.
Anyway, you may notice the text links to this guy on Twitter: https://twitter.com/ewenmacaskill And he links to a Guardian article: http://www.theguardian.com/football...14-players-tour-rio-de-janeiro-rocinha-favela
I see in one of the red tops yesterday, they tracked down a tribe in the middle of the rain forest, photographed them in England shirts and proclaimed them to be supporting England because they liked the three lions on the badge. There really is no lengths to which the British tabloid journalists won't go.
FA website a bit late trying to post more quotes from Adam during that visit, but they have course, not included his faux pas. http://www.thefa.com/news/england/2...humbled-after-england-visit-rio-favela-090614
