http://www.theguardian.com/football...es-nicky-butt-phil-neville-coaches?CMP=twt_gu They say they could be at the club next season, They also say that Louis Van Gaal will finalise his coaches after the world cup.
I'm not sure Paul Scholes should have a job at United. They sacked Roy Keane for a similar attack on United players.
Not that I disagree, but Keane's attack come when he was a player and the people he was talking about we're his teammates. Scholes is retired, so while it lacks class it's not quite on the level of Keane. He should be given some form of punishment at the very least.
Ok I know it's not exactly the same but for a coach to call the clubs top player past it? To the press! Not something a Mr Ferguson would have put up with.
I dont want Scholes at Man Utd. As far as im concerned he is finished at the club with his inexcusable attack on Wayne Rooney.
Well, as I said, he should be punished, wether that's a fine or being relieved of his duties isn't my decision. I'll start this debate though, seems a good as thread as any for it. Was Paul Scholes right about Rooney, being past his peak? The numbers seem to say yes, but he's hit some good patches of form, but overall I think he has much to offer than he's given the past 2-3 seasons. Wether that's down to how he's been told to play tactically, or down to a rift with Fergie which became apparent towards the end and then Moyes' negative tactics stifling our attack remains to be seen. If he has a poor season under Van Gaal, would that make Scholes right?
Has anybody actually heard or read Scholes comments on this? He said it was "possible" that Rooney had peaked due to the amount of football he has played from such an early age. This is not sacrilage, it is quite plain that Rooney has been well off his best for 18 months or more, maybe he has peaked or maybe he needs handling different or maybe he just needs a good rest. Scholes should not be slated for saying what we all know and can see week after week.
It's pushing it to say Scholes is being slated. He also might well be correct, as you and Mano say, and he's entitled to his opinion. He probably thought he wasn't going to be working under the new manager. All I'm saying is it is debatable whether he should be brought back as a coach after saying our star player is likely to be past his best. I can't see it being a harmonious situation and so I think he shouldn't be. Is Rooney actually past his peak? Well, at his age should be at his peak and he didn't play too poorly last season. Time will tell how he works under van Gaal but I would say he isn't.
