    Just heard the news and absolutely gutted. Been to see him live at x3 of the 'Bottom Live' shows and him and Ade together were just the best comedy act to date. Will be sadly missed. Heartbroken :(

    Very sad news. An iconic comedian. It says a lot about how good he was that he seemed like a massive part of my teen years and yet looking back he wasn't actually on that much at the time.

    RIP you utter, utter, utter, utter, bastard!

    Loved him in the Young Ones, the New Statesman and for his appearances in Black Adder. Just a very funny man. Very sad news.

    Legendary figure, a golden era of comedy with him at the forefront. I also had the pleasure of seeing him live, though in a play with Ade in the West End. He always carried an aura, a sense of expectancy that something amusing would happen - and it always did. In the same class as - obviously - Ade Edmondson and Rowan Atkinson, a British institution. Almost feels like a member of my family passed away. Rest in Peace.
