Bony won't go anywhere unless he is going as first choice IMO . His signing on fees bonuses and wages probably total to 60 k a week here and he is the number 1 and plays every week, champions league is the target and I think he has enough confidence in his ability to wait for the right move where he will maintain his number 1 status.
Nobody is really first choice these days and if Liverpool should manage to entice bony he will be part of the squad and will have games for sure. I see Rodgers could even come in for Michu as well...
Being reported that David Luiz could be on his way to PSG for £40 million Where the hell does that put Bony's price tag? £50-£60 million?
From the 'Daily Mail' Pepe Reina set for Liverpool return after Napoli refuse to meet Reds' asking price - Pepe Reina could return to Liverpool after his loan spell at Napoli - Player's agent confirms Napoli are not willing to meet the asking price - Reina helped Napoli win the Copa Italia under Rafa Benitez - Simon Mignolet is Liverpool No1, while Brendan Rodgers has also expressed interest in Swansea keeper Michel Vorm Could this mean no move for Vorm? How would everyone feel about that (I think many of us were happy for him to go providing we signed a quality replacement)?
Great news as I didn't see Fabianski as an upgrade on Vorm so if Vorm stays and Fabianski makes Vorm perform that extra 10% better then it's a win win for us.
To me bony is worth £30m to us but now his release clause of £19m has been revealed then the chances of us holding out for £20m let alone £30m have been scuppered and now we have to hope that more than one team are prepared to over bid the starting price of £19m..
The two things that are behind Rodgers low ball offers are ..... getting stung on Allen ( sorry folks , not worth that type of money till this point ) and his failure to see who Routledge really was . He's trying to make up for errors in judgement ...imo
I'm a firm believer in honouring contracts by both the player and the club, the sooner this becomes the norm the better. This nonsense you hear that if a player wants to go he'll have his way, rubbish a contracts a contract. Only last season Luis Suarez was throwing his toys out of the pram insisting he wanted to leave, Liverpool refused and within weeks Suarez was back on board and had his best season so far.
Brendan wouldn't let him leave and made him train with the reserves and should be praised for the way he handled the whole situation.
I take your point, not 100% sure though. Liverpool are the exception rather than the rule . Clubs like Swansea very often have to bend to a players contract, its why we had a clause for Ki to play 20 games a season etc, etc. Its nice to think that a contract should be held but its been shown that a player holds the cards more than the club .
Regardless of eventual forced / persuaded mix no question a very important achievement by Brendan, sure it was a matter of more than just digging his heels in though. If Bony has a release clause as reported and that is met then the decision to move undoubtedly becomes his decision. If not I am sure he will honour his contract (if we think it in our best interest to hold him to it).
