I don't see what the point of Bruce moving to a club like Southampton. Admittidley a bigger club but not by a long stretch at all. Why would he want to move when there is seemingly so much unrest at Southampton behind the scenes? Not to mention it is likely that at least 4 of their big players will leave. Bruce is settled at the club with our current players and had taken us to the best places we have been in the history of the club. He is building the club, getting the best out of out players, generally making great signings and making the club ever more valuable. Why would he want to leave what he has achieved after getting the club in to Europe. Southampton play a great style of football but that is only because of the manager they have had and have overachieved massively. I don't suspect that Bruce will be with us for much longer and may not be with us next season because I am sure bigger offers will come in for him should we have a successful season this year. I don't see Southampton as a worthy enough club for him to change to just yet. And with rumors of our pretty high transfer budget of 25mill, expansion and upgrade of training and youth facilties, signings of some promising youth players and proposals for a stadium expansion the future is bright for the club and Bruce not that he already isn't one will further his legacy and go on to become a Hull City legend and best manager the history of the club.
I hope the bit about Bruce being ready to cut his ties with Hull City has just been made up by someone because I think the Allams would be a bit pissed off to hear that. No matter what I think of them re the name change and the way they treat the supporters they have come up with money for Bruce when he wants to sign players and I think they expect loyalty. I cannot see any reason myself why Bruce would think Southampton was a better option than us so hopefully just another one of those rumours.
Southampton a bigger club than HCAFC!!....That's open to debate......When they're scraping around at the bottom of the premier league lets just see how many turn up at StMary
We the fans love to see loyalty at our clubs, but the Allams are businessmen as they never tire of telling everyone. They haven't shown much loyalty to anyone but themselves so far.
Southampton have a pedigree for top flight football and have plenty of room for improvement. Large catchment, big stadium, established academy,.... Saints are bigger than we are
Lots of clubs have a pedigree for top flight football.....Leeds, Forest etc...etc..It means jack ****.. Improvement..if losing your chairman, manager, and best players is improvement then I wouldn't like to see a downturn... Strange I can recall Southampton attracting about 12k in league one only a few seasons ago..We'd get more....We have the potential to be bigger, granted, especially if the eggchasers went out of bizz.
OK Forget pedigree. They finished higher than us in the PL. Have been there longer. Are linked with better players. Produce better players than we ever have. HAve you seen the list of players coming through Southampton? Bigger and better history, bigger and better last few seasons, better infrastructure..... We are not in the same bracket as Southampton. Potentially (in 3 -5 years) we might be on recent performance.....
What has the crowd size got to do with it ? if it was all about passionate fans the biffa's would be near the top every season. As for potentialy bigger without the egg chasers, not many fans to gain, but we could certainly use their marketing staff.
Fair points made Horsham. Perhaps I am delving too far back into our history when in mid 60's we had gates of 40k on a regular basis....making us 'potentially' bigger than a lot of clubs inc Southampton..Yes I am aware that times and tastes have changed...but I always think back to that period and think do you know what...those days could be around the corner...but I'm probably seeing the sentimental side of it....Even Brooking had to admit there were 35k at a FA Cup at BP between City and West ham when he said why does Hull want a 25k stadium....Thick, London bar-steward.
No you're right, those days could be around the corner if the club had any ambition to try and make it happen.
Remind me where you finished again. If they become as **** as us as you say then they are still better than you, dimwit.
Couple of questions for ya. Do you think Bruce will keep us up if he stays with us? Would ya mind us staying up next season? Not at your own expense obviously.
