Jermain Defoe will return to the Premier League next season â joining up once more with Harry Redknapp at QPR, writes Tom Hopkinson in the Sunday People. Jermain Defoe set for QPR transfer as Redknapp also eyes Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard reunions. Jun 07, 2014 23:00 By Tom Hopkinson England striker who has played for the Hoops boss at Tottenham and Portsmouth will join them on loan during the MLS off-season The Toronto FC striker will arrive on loan as part of a plan by the Hoops boss to work once more with a trio of his former West Ham players. But Sunday People Sport understands that Redknappâs efforts to be reunited with Rio Ferdinand have hit a snag after QPR owner Tony Fernandes blocked the move. And an offer to Frank Lampard will remain on the table until after the World Cup when the Chelsea legend will take his pick from over 20 suitors. Lampard could link up with the newly-promoted west Londoners for six months before joining MLS side New York City. Defoe will arrive in January, at the end of season in the MLS â where he has netted six times in seven games for Toronto. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...-defoe-set-qpr-transfer-3659315#ixzz33zo6JtYj Follow us: @DailyMirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook
I would take Defoe in a heartbeat, Lampard with some mixed feelings for one season, but Ferdinand? Please, please, please no!
He scored a penalty this afternoon - the only goal in the match today for Toronto FC. I don't know if that makes 6 goals in seven games or 7 in 8, but either way it is amazing to those of us who have watched that club claw it's way to last place every year since they came into the league. Might do a job for us but I agree with the posts above and elsewhere on this board - no Rio & no Lampard
Defoe - scores goals and could be the difference to us staying up with a loan spell 100% yes from me as a short term help - but we still need to build for a long term PL future But importantly we need to stay up !!
Cracking signing, but will his heart be in it? He's already turned down Premier League for money before. Would hate to know how much you'd be paying of his 90k a week contract you'll be paying.
In that case we wouldn't tell you how much we'd be paying of his £90k a week contract we'd be paying.
If this is true, and that is a big if, it does show the value of a manager with some reputation in that he can attract players of this calibre.
Good point RTID, I've always felt that Harry is far more at home managing in the Premier League than he was in the Championship and hope he can really put his mark on the team in the coming season...
