The Falklands is a tricky problem - Britain, France and Spain have all had claims in the past. It was only permanently colonised after Argentina declared independence. Whilst our colonial expansion certainly gave parts of the world the benefit of our law, engineering, etc it also left a legacy of nationalist problems in some areas.
