Well no, but bidding has to start somewhere, you won't get much more than 5m for him. You have no leverage. He's got you by the bollocks, With one year left he calls the shots. That's the bosman ruling for you. Only an Idiot wouldn't sell when the player wants to go with only a year left on his contract. Our last director of football should know, he's been sacked and 4 players are walking for free. Bit us in the arse watching saleable assets strengthen rivals for free.
It makes no difference who the paper is; they have no way of getting direct information from a closed door contract negotiation except from one of the party's involved. An players agent will use any way he can during contract talks to boost his case including putting out misleading or false rumours of interest in the player from other clubs.
Na, your wrong there mate, when its good news for us it's obviously true and when its bad news or a player not deemed good enough it's a load of ****e, easy
The difference is, as I have pointed out several times, Swansea have lots of money in the bank. Unlike Sunderland at the time Swansea have no debt. If it turns out Williams does want to leave Swansea, we can sit and wait to see if another bidder comes in or even until the January window mid season. There is absolutely no urgency to sell Ashley Williams at all at this time.
I know what you pointed out fella, it was in the post I responded to. I still think it's funking stupid to let one of your players strengthen a rival for free regardless of how much either clubs have.
difficult to offer/sign contracts when premier league safety is threatened! Which it has been for at least the last 2 seasons!
I don't remember saying that losing bardlsy, colback was good business for us. Nor Jones for wba. I'm a little confused by that comment.
I wonder if those tweets by Chopra a couple of weeks ago had anything to do with this, does he know something?
Funnily enough @MichaelChopra08: Ashley Williams moving to Sunderland #convenient It would seem williams is banging chopra's ex who lives in durham and he is very jealous
@Leigh_Brettwood: @MichaelChopra08 Yeah all the #safc think he is an instant hero already because i love it that he been dipping it in your missus #unlucky Ashley Williams is our friend, is our friend, is our friend Ashley Williams is our friend he hates chopra !! The c.unt
What a bellied Chopra is. I don't see how it could be convenient, if he ever showed his face in Sunderland there would be a good chance of it getting booted off, the horrible little louse
sunderland player smashing his lass and bringing his son up while he pops off to india to gamble his life away. He's jealous as **** mate
SUNDERLAND are reported to have tested the water with a £4m bid for Swansea and Wales defender Ashley Williams. The 29-year-old is understood to be a player Gus Poyet has identified as being vital to rebuilding his squad after last season’s relegation battle. Williams has excellent leadership skills, having led Swansea to the Capital One Cup a year ago, as well as being a key part of their rise to the Premier League. Sunderland have acted swiftly in a bid to snap up Williams and tempt Swansea with a reasonable bid for a player they could lose on a free next summer. The centre-half has just 12 months left on his contract, and Swansea need to decide whether to cash in on him now. However, there were reports that the Welsh club were looking for more than double the £4m that Sunderland have offered, and there could be a long way to go if the Black Cats are to land their man. Director of Football Lee Congerton is leading the pursuit of Williams, who has attracted interest from top clubs including Arsenal and QPR.
The first thing that struck me about this post was the "excellent leadership" quote. My immediate thought was, O'Shea is history.
