It was bad because of the circumstances Sky, you don't fly in like that the week before a world cup during a friendly. No need in my opinion.
It's not though. It's just before a world cup and if he makes that tackle during a world cup it's a straight red, simple as that. My observation is not that it was reckless or could have hurt Valencia, more that can he be entrusted to start the world cup when he's clearly so charged up? It was a pre tournament friendly, he needs to be showing a cool head not flying into tackles like that.
What all you haters with your faux outrage have blissfully ignored is that if the challenge made by Sterling on Valencia was enacted on any other Ecuadorian player, you'd be singing his praises. Hypocrisy of the highest order is rampant within the echelons of Ingurland "supporters"
Good to see Sturridge and Gerrard acting with dignity here.....Honduras players, both booked, lunged in (trying to end their world cup, like Sterling was to Valencia, apparently) but neither grabbed them by the throat and didnt go all vicious and violent Well done Sturridge and Gerrard
That's one reason why England will never play like Liverpool this year despite people claiming they should (and I'm not saying that means fill them with LFC player by the way). People saying let's play is solid for 70 minutes and then get the fast players on to scare the opposition. Problem is, by that time we'll probably be behind and there wont be any space for the subs to exploit. Sterling has played best for Liverpool this year when he's started and has been instrumental in the quick start and goals that we've scored this year. Why not go out score 2 goals and get in the lead and then bring off those players for "safer" players like Milner for the last 20 minute to defend a lead. I'd much rather my team started on the front foot and tried to get into the lead then defend it, rather than play for a 0-0 for 70-80 minutes and try and nick it in the last 10.
Sorry but who said Sterling tried to end Valencia's world cup? Nobody. He made a stupid lunge that could have ended his world cup.
Valid points, no doubt. We all know though that we will not approach the world cup with that attitude unfortunately. It'll be safety first, chase the game later. Always is.
That Gerrard and Sturridge didnt go for the jugular even though it could've ended their world cup? Whats the real problem here? Why you looking for an argument on the Prem board? Is it because earlier in this thread you misread Matths post and I wondered what you were on about and asked, and you were like "really? I cant make it any clearer" When in fact you'd totally misread it? Whatever, cant be bothered. Go and have a cold shower or something
I think you might be very surprised with what Henderson has to offer. He was MOTM in that debacle on Saturday.
