I went back and had a look around the old place last year. What a **** hole it is, it was bad enough back in '88 but it's a lot worse now.

    Brought back some memories though, one question needs answering here;

    Is it a multi storey?

Trinity House trustee Captain Dennis Robinson said: "The Hull Trinity House charity trustees are pleased with the unanimous decision to allow the demolition of the old school building".

A few more clown shoe mongs. Why on earth would they be pleased to see the school knocked down.

I'll reserve judgement until I see more detailed plans.

If it's simply going to be a car park, then it's a wasted opportunity. If they end up doing more with it, as hinted at, then it may not be all bad.

I overlook the place where I live and Carmine is correct. It is a bit of a **** hole right now and the building I expect they are pulling down really does have no architectural merit.

Can't grasp it. They managed to do the back of the Market Hall - so it linked to the Bluebell and the Arcade, but that was the much-maligned City Council. (This is a 'corporate' move, whereby knocking the buildings means more than - as OLM showed - refurbishment/change of use).

It's a case of Death before Life.

I believe only one part is getting knocked down, which is this building:

    4799036.jpg

Though I agree with OLM - something could be done with it, with a bit of creative thinking. It may only be historically/architecturally significant at ground-level, but knocking it down will only reveal the backs of the shops on Whitefriargate. The current building is in-keeping with the rest of the courtyard, and also makes it symmetrical, lining up with the archway and the chapel at the other end.

Also, that reads as though the access will be via this gate:
    https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.7...ata=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sQu2a-guoSUjCogASNEf5nQ!2e0

opposite Mission and Tunnel, which would mean a section on the right-hand side (left on the above picture) of the courtyard would also have to be demolished.

With Princes Quay's multi-storey within a 2 minute walk from the site - what on earth is the reasoning behind this? Trinity House, like Hull City Councillors, have far too much power in Hull.

The brethren are skint and not willing to find the money from 3rd party investment. As far as I know Hull City council wouldn't touch it the only stand point being this proposal...

Your pics, dazz - isn't that the entrance from Posterngate? And aren't the buildings to be demolished the ugly ones on the left of that entry and on your right as you enter from Princes Dock Side?

    May be no great loss.

Beat me to it dazzer, but here's my view of the building. Would be no great loss imo. If they simply put in place a car park then it would be a wasted opportunity.

I'm looking down on princes dock street, the sun is shining and people are having a merry time whilst sampling a beverage or two. It's a lovely spot and always busy.

This could be a great opportunity to grow this.

so everyone concerned - Trinity House, the council, AND English Heritage - favoured demolition of a building that's beyond repair and they're all wrong?

    bizarre.

The white building you can see on the far right is the Chapel.

No way will that be allowed to be pulled down, it's a lovely building.

Every Wednesday morning I'd have to go and sit and listen to the Rev Dan.

Bored the frig out of me to be honest.

Maybe a car park is better than wasteland and a picture of a false promise.

Screams short-termism though. This city is constantly being held back, but who's going to step in and save it?

I told you the other week Party, this has SWF written all over it.
