Striker who is currently playing for a Conference Prem side, according to todays post. A deal has apparently been made between us and them and we are just waiting on a contractual wrangle at the other end to be resolved. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Darrel...s-Rovers-set/story-21191158-detail/story.html Yesterday in Clarkes interview he spoke about getting 2 strikers who both will need to score 20 goals plus each. So then, who is this Conference Prem striker??
Salisbury has denied this Tweet from Ali Durden https://twitter.com/alidurdenBBC/status/474201454371438593
Here is the top scorers last season in the Conference Prem http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013–14_Football_Conference#Top_scorers Forget the Luton players and Aknide who has already moved and joined Barnet. I hope its Lee Gregory! That would be a great signing and shows our intent to whatever league we end up in after the Wycombe situation is over.
How many times though have we heard this just to put others off the trail? You never know perhaps Constable has done a Platt and torn up his contract as he realises he made a bobo
Its like recieving the dreaded vote of confidence from the board when things aint going too well. I still dont think it will be White though
If it isn't the Salisbury lad then it's probably Gregory. Either or both would be good for this level and would show some ambition too...
Lee Gregory is halfway through a two year contract and is valued at £200,000+ Many clubs looking at him. Why would he sign for another Conference side?
like any league 2 club would sign for another league 2 club etc etc. if we put in an offer and the offer is accepted then its down to the player and he may see us as a better prospect of going up. or he maybe thinking we could be reinstated to league 2 so he jumps up a division or he may like the sound of playing at a brand new stadium soon. who knows! the fact that he is playing in the same league wont make a difference. now can we afford the fee? cant see why not if the board is serious about a promotion push in a league that has no FFP rules how many millions has luton spent in the last 5 years? £9m plus apparently. £9m over 5 years is £1.8m a season on average spent.
You might think that would be the case but when Rickie left for Southampton they had been docked points and were below Rovers in the same division the previous season. Money talks. Prospect of a bigger club can be a factor.
good shout clarke says proven goal scorer who can get 20 plus goals. the post is saying the striker is a conference prem striker so brett williams would fit that description as well
...not forgetting the big man Harrold... Hopefully they'll get hatfulls of goals...and hopefully the defence will be as mean as they were last season...
