I don't understand why Peeters is getting so much flack, he obviously sees it as a big opportunity, so as he puts why would he miss the train... I'm going to see what resources he's given, then judge accordingly, ultimately the club will reflect the owner...
My view too. Obviously some of the flack is because a lot of us wanted to give Riga a turn, and a chance to build on what he'd begun, but let's not jump on the new guy because he's not Riga. He may turn out to be okay.
True. Peeters came across ok in the interview. I am taking his comments about new players with a pinch of salt. I somehow doubt that he will have much influence over them!
Riga not getting the job was totally baffling, especially as it was communicated as "going with the best man for the job"... It was classless, and sent out a poor message regarding how Roley rewards good work... I can't believe some fans are saying things like "hope Peeter's signings are the right ones"..? With Roley at the helm, the network, and Peeter's role as "head coach" not manager, how much actual say do fans think he'll get with signings...? A small positive... The old "he brought the players" chestnut, can't be used in future sack the manager threads ...
No, but if Roly believes the computer nerd who says Thuram and Pete are world-beaters he can sack the manager for not getting the best out of them.
Missed this post when I posted above, but totally agree... Events thus far suggest he'll have very little input...
That's the only criteria that will hold up now, so expect to see this one make the rounds in those future threads...
I thought it came across as if the press team had gone through it with a fine comb and added in phrases that were designed to purely pander to the fans. That's why I don't think there were ever going to be any visuals.
All we needed was a laptop & we had another "chat with Iain Dowie" When Bob went for his interview, I wonder if he too gave a laptop presentation entitled "Activating the Addicks"
Just had a strange thought- supposing Bob turns out to be a very good manager? No, forget that, a great manager? No forget that A Legend, the best manager we've ever had? Bob gets us into the Champions League, and Roland has to pull SL out? How do you like that scenario?
Love it, just as much as the scenario where my Euro Millions numbers come in tomorrow night and I spend my days in 'open relationships' with both Pixie Lott and Gemma Arterton
full interview with the man available. but only if you'll pay for player... they're having a laugh arent they??
Yep - forget the 2 season tickets I pay for, the copious amounts of beer I buy and the shirt from the club shop. I need to pay for some crap subscription to hear what our new manager is saying.
Fair play to him in speaking in a foreign language but he looks and sounds far more like a Millwall manager than a Charlton one.
Nothing in the interview to make me change my opinion that Roly made a mistake getting rid of JR. He says we need to get some strikers in, which we all know, but he hasn't seen the players at all, so it sounds to me like an excuse already, although maybe that's just me being cynical. What I liked about JR was that he never talked publicly about who he needed to bring in, just focussed on getting the best out of the players at his disposal.
Riga was never at Charlton during a transfer window. Peeters could have watched recorded matches or seen most of the strikers from last season were sold or on loan. What did people say about Riga's first interview?
