    I agree. Great news.

This is starting to sound like we're getting a great squad back together.

I'm not saying Granero can't ever be a good player for us but what from his performances have suggested he can be?

Would he have returned if we were still playing the likes of Norwich, Fulham and Cardiff next year instead of top level clubs ?;-)

He only showed a few glimpses of his capability in the PL, the fact he was so poor for much of that season and he has had a career-threatening injury put some big question marks against him. We really can't afford to have passengers on board and I think his style is more suited to La Liga...

On the basis of nothing except that he seemed a decent bloke and he drove a mini (and didn't look after it, from what I saw in the players' car park) he may not be quite as £ oriented at most and might take a deal to get playing time elsewhere if H doesn't want him.

He may not be the answer (though even in his worst games there would be one imaginative pass) and I feel on pretty thin ice sticking up for him, but we can't stock the team entirely with runners and triers. We need a bit of vision in midfield - Adel - probably not; Morrison - looking unlikely; Niko - perhaps a pre season would help,, but not sure for a whole season. If all else fails I'd play Granero further forward than in the past, in front of Barton and, hopefully, Faurlin. I suspect its a sellers market for quality in this position, except, of course, for the ones we want to sell. Sod's law.

Definite talent. We currently lack vision and the ability to play that pass that creates chances. He could be a good option. However and it's a big one I felt he went missing in some of the games I saw. The going got tough and he didn't get going. I favour giving him a chance as he is our player.

Ive always been a fan of granero and stuck up for him, but if im to be fair and judge him as i have others, then thiere is probably no reason we should get him back.
didnt do it for us in the Prem and left when we needed him, although not quite sure why.

He did always try but it seemed PL was niot for him at the time. I wouldnt say no as he has an obvious talent and the mental side to the his game is good as is his attitude...but I wont be complaining if he doesnt come back.

Prob best to leave him where he is IMO

It may surprise you that I agree with this.
Although I was a big critic of Granero, we do need some creativity and I would certainly not play him deeper where he would get caught in possession in dangerous areas.

In his last season with us, I thought he showed some class, with good skills and vision. BUT... he was limited by the movement of the team around him. He'd get caught in possession or look slow because he couldn't find feet to pass to and couldn't buy himself enough time or space before being tackled. I may remember this poorly, but I don't think passing into space was something he did much.

Before his injury, I thought he was a good player in the wrong team. Now? Who knows?

Just a thought, who would you prefer in the squad going into next season. Jenas or Granero...

Injuries aside, I like Jenas. He likes to get involved and try to shake up a game. But we can't have an injury prone player in the EPL 25 man squad.

It all depends on what they see of him in training and on how he fits in with the others of "the right sort". We are not privilege to that.

Dipper is correct when he says that he was hampered by the movement (or lack of) around him during his last season with us. It has got better, but needs to get better still.

We'll have to wait and see. After all our thoughts and theories he will probably be sold by the end of next week!

Also, he's in his 20s - so we need a few of his sort to keep the median down if nothing else with all these old lags we're linked with

Also a lot of the problem was that in a number of games he was played by clueless either on the right or left side of mid field where he had very little influence......

Agree with Col & Stan play him in the middle of the 3 behind Charlie with Hoilett and Phillips either side of him.......

I would like to give him a second chance. I think our team and managment is now much more experienced and wised this time. Only thinig that worries me is his injury and how he is recovered from it. Same goes with Faurlin........

I wouldn't have him back. The stories of dressing room unrest etc are well versed. There is a reason we dismantled the squad and shifted out certain players. Granero must have some talent to have been a Real Madrid player. However he seemed to one of those players who talked the talk after every defeat but failed to walk the walk. To me he appeared to be disinterested and simply going through the motions like many of those that were shifted out. I do not want to see us pulling back that squad together again. There is a sense of togetherness with the players and the club as a whole at the moment and we need to move on with a core of the players who played this season and add to the squad with decent hungry players on sensible wages so as not to undo what the club has started to build.
