I would think we were clutching at straws. Too old and has yet to prove he can cut it in the premiership. Athletico aren't releasing him because he is improving!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's obviously not for us too slow and will command us to break the wage structure. I know we have to break the wage ceiling but on him NAH! He's too old for that kind of gamble.

He'd be fantastic for us. He reads the game very quickly, makes excellent movements and would be the finishing touch to our outstanding wingplay. We bent our wage structure to get Davids we can do it again for Forlan.

Yes he would most certainly be seen as a marquee signing.

If we have to have a golden oldie, I'd much prefer Drogba.

Glad you made comparisons with Davids. We signed him 4 or 5 seasons too late as well. We are looking to move forward, not become a retirement home for players who used to be good, while destroying our wage structure too!

Drogba, at least, is a proven Premiership goalscorer. If the Chavs are silly enough to dump him, I reckon he's got a couple of good years left in him.

we all wanted him after the world cup the only problem was the finaances involved not his ability..a year or so later and now we dont want him and seems like we never have according to some fans....for the record i would want him as an experinced head for us..but not for the wage he might be dreaming of

E25mm??? that's ludicrous. Even ****ty wouldn't be stupid enough to pay that. I was never convinced about him, anyway. That price is about E20mm too much.

Pass.
Too expensive, too old and he'd probably ask for a fairly long contract.

Good player, but there are too many negatives, for me.

why would we?

we wanted him last year apparently, and he turned us down, apparently (according to the rumours!)

so if that was true, he had his chance so now he can do one (just like Joe bloody Cole) - and Parker too, if I had my way (which I don't!)

lets move forwards not backwards....

Really?
And you know this how, exactly?

Rossi or Owen?
Pique or Evans?
You'll be fine at centre-back for some years, if Smalling and Jones' performances for the U21s are anything to go by, but your forward line could do with a little work, in my opinion.
I suppose Young helps pick up the slack there, though.

The €25 fee may not be accurate or may be negotiable, plus Villa paid £24 for Bent, so it's not totally out of the question, Lidls.
Pique left to get first team football, if I remember correctly.
I'm sure that Barca's interest immediately turned his head anyway, but I don't think that's something that's restricted to Catalans.

I'm not suggesting that we'd buy him for that amount Ensil, as I think it'd give Levy a coronary, but there are some clubs around with money to spend, a desperate need for an experienced striker and that would welcome a marquee signing.
Perhaps Newcastle or Sunderland could go in for him?

Bent is several years younger and was a proven goalscorer (with Sunderland, at least!) E25MM for a 32yr old who may, or may not, score a few goals for us is just lunacy.
